49ers stadium to host outdoor hockey game

Sharks

In the year before the so-called Field of Jeans hosts a Super Bowl, the new 49ers stadium will host a wide variety of events. Including a hockey game.

Via the San Jose Mercury News, the NHL has announced that a February 21 game between the L.A. Kings and San Jose Sharks has been moved to Levi’s Stadium.

The NHL picked the 49ers’ new stadium over the San Francisco Giants’ ballpark, primarily because the football venue can hold more than 25,000 more paying customers. Speaking of paying customers, tickets ranging from $65 to $350 go on sale at 10 a.m. PT Thursday. The tickets initially are available to Sharks and Kings season-ticket holders, and to PSL owners for the 49ers games.

The game, by the way, will be broadcast by NBCSN.
