Cowboys sign two defensive backs to aid injury-riddled secondary

Name a position on defense and the Cowboys have injury issues keeping them from full strength with their preseason schedule about to get underway.

The team addressed one area on Wednesday by signing a pair of defensive backs. The team announced that they have signed cornerback Korey Lindsey and safety Johnny Thomas, both of whom will accompany the team to San Diego and could play on Thursday night.

Lindsey was a seventh-round pick of the Bengals in 2011 and has spent time on the practice squads or offseason rosters of the Cardinals, Colts, Jaguars and others without seeing any action in a regular season game. Thomas has spent time with the Saints, but also has yet to see action in a regular season game.

The Cowboys will be without cornerback Morris Claiborne, safety Barry Church, cornerback Sterling Moore and others because of injuries. Cornerback Brandon Carr has also been absent from practice because of a death in his family, causing the Cowboys to look for healthy bodies to help them out until the health situation improves.

I honestly feel like we are going to see one of the worst defenses in the history of the NFL in Dallas this season. And, few things could make me as happy as that.

The entire thing seems on a downhill slide for the ‘Boys…

Garrett is ineffective. Romo is unreliable and injured anyway. No running game. Wideouts overrated. D-Line a question mark. Sean Lee is out for the year. The DBs are all hurt and aren’t that good when they are in there.

Can’t see this team winning more than 5 games.

As mediocre as the guy who has to click the mediocre article to post a mediocre comment.

The most mediocre comment in Internet

  6. dalfanforever says: Aug 6, 2014 11:58 AM

Lets recap: People love to hate the Cowboys: Check
Defense will probably suck again: Check
Romo will somehow get blamed for defense sucking even if he somehow plays and puts up 35 points a game: Check

Camp bodies nothing more. If one somehow sneaks onto the 53, well yay.

Sounds like the Cowboys will be searching the streets again for defensive players. Change the strength and conditioning coaches.

We are staring at a defense that may be the worst in HISTORY. :(

Have some faith guys. Its just the first preseason game. Long way away from the first game of regular season. Check around I’m sure other teams have injuries also. And here’s a guestion for Ms. Velvet. Who is your team? Funny I never hear you mention them. How about you letting the rest of us know who that is. Maybe its our little brothers the Texans or maybe its johnny Cleveland or maybe that team in Miami. ” what’s their name? No matter cause u don’t matter.

Camp body. Even as a die hard Cardinals season ticket holder (who thinks he’s knows every player on the team) – I’ve never heard of this guy.

    Cowboys are in rough shape

It’s like the defensive players on the Cowboys know how bad their D is gonna be and they’re getting hurt so they don’t have to be a part of the carnage.

  12. ddaniels11 says: Aug 6, 2014 1:12 PM

It’s pre-season and early. The Cowboys’ D will be improved this year. Better talent than last season, much more quality depth as well. Not to mention Marinelli is calling the D. I’m not saying they’ll be a top 10 D, but from #32 to say like #24-#20 isn’t out of the question.

Thanks again in advance Jerry for putting together another incredible roster!! I wish I could afford the PSL and season tickets so I could come and see this juggernaut of a franchise live!! Perhaps I will come and pay the nominal fee of $75 to come and park my beaten car in the swank parking lot around ATT stadium and party with all the other die hard fans in the sweltering Dallas heat!! Can’t wait til September!!

I agree that this defense may surpass the ineptness of last years.Blame Jerrah completely for overpaying for guys like Lee,Scandrick,Carr etc who have strapped them into salary cap jail for what seems like forever.Poor Marinelli.

Look, I do like the Cowboys, but this team is worse off than the lowly raiders. Just being realistic.

I fully agree with you on this commenter. this person is the most mediocre commenter on pft. but good luck getting Ms.velvet to tell u what team he roots for. I have also asked the same question and have not gotten a response. maybe he/she is just too scared of one of us Dallas fans actually hitting them in the face with the sad truth about his/her team.

On a positive note, it will give them a good opportunity to play the rookies Terrance Mitchell and Tyler Patmon who are talented but need plays.

It’s a stinkin’ preseason game. Don’t panic yet.

Hey dalcow4, its ok to bash the Cowboys but saying that the WR are overrated makes you sound like a dope…Dez is a top 4 WR, Williams is up and coming and Beasley had 39 catches last year as a 5th option…pick your fights bro

  19. lakedog19352 says: Aug 6, 2014 4:27 PM

PS for the 12 games he plays Murray is pretty dang good so dont say no running game either dummy…keep your negative comments to the defense side of the ball and you wont sound so stupid

    Vernon Gholston is still available.
