Raiders add safety Larry Asante

Cedric Peerman, Larry Asante AP

The Raiders made another depth signing on Wednesday, adding veteran safety Larry Asante, the club said.

Asante takes the roster spot of first-year safety Shelton Johnson, who was waived/injured. Johnson reportedly has dealt with a hamstring injury.

The 26-year-old Asante has spent time with the Browns (2010), Buccaneers (2010-2011) and Colts (2013) in his pro career. He has appeared in 17 regular season games, notching 14 tackles and picking off one pass.

Asante played in five games for Indianapolis last season. He was waived-injured in November.

Earlier Wednesday, the Raiders signed rookie linebacker Spencer Hadley.
