The Panthers don’t have wide receiver Steve Smith to make the big plays, but they found someone to make them.
First-round pick Kelvin Benjamin just made a lot of fans in Charlotte with an acrobatic touchdown grab, giving the Panthers hope they have a No. 1 receiver.
Benjamin fell down/was pushed, but regained enough balance to make a falling/diving 29-yard touchdown reception from Derek Anderson.
Benjamin has shown excellent hands throughout training camp, and has developed a quick rapport with starting quarterback Cam Newton.
That’s something Smith and Newton never had, and that was part of the reason Smith’s with the Ravens now.
