Linval Joseph vows to return “in the near future”

Shot in the calf after Friday night’s preseason opener, Vikings defensive tackle Linval Joseph emerged with only minor injuries.  While the timetable for his return to the field isn’t definite, he vows to be back soon.

“I appreciate everyone’s thoughts and concerns over the past 24 hours,” Joseph said in a statement released by the Vikings.  “I am extremely thankful that this was a minor injury for me.  As the team has communicated, this was an unfortunate situation where I, along with several others, was an innocent bystander to a senseless act.  My thoughts are with all of the victims at this time.  I am looking forward to getting back onto the field with my teammates in the near future.”

Joseph signed with the Vikings in free agency.  He is projected to be a starter on the defensive line.

  1. Normally when a team wants to bring the best out in a player, they call it a “shot in the arm”. What’s this “shot in the leg” stuff, something new ??
Gotta hand it to the Vikings for being innovative !!

  2. Vows to put Lazzzzzzy and peewee Rodgers to sleep when the regular season game comes. Still better player than the busted players in little terrible city, terrible fans and terrible team in WI. Vikings D will dominate the Packs offense, fact!!!

  3. I can’t stand how obvious it is that PR teams are writing all the statements for players.

Please stop all the snobby statements that he needs to make better choices. He was just out and got hit by a bullet meant for someone else.

Coach Herm always says…..” son……nothing good happens after midnight”….

    ___________

My memory (or lack of memory) says otherwise. Thousands of people had a ton of fun last night after midnight in NYC alone.

I guess he doesn’t know my neighbor Tracy who loves to drunk dial.

  6. Projected to be a starter? He’s projected to be the key to the entire front seven. He was the Vikings’ biggest free agent signing. His presence will shut down the run while he’s occupying two blockers, helping to protect the weak middle linebacker position. He should improve the defense a lot, as long as none of the opposing offensive linemen are packing heat.

  7. Who was the Redskins player who got shot in his own home? Should he have not been there?

Trolls being trolls. He was doing nothing illegal, wasn’t beating his wife, wasn’t starting a fight, he was just an innocent bystander.

Some of you really need to get lives and stop hitting refresh all the time on these boards. Seriously.

  8. How about he “vows to stay out of the club”, and therefore out of this type of trouble, at 2 AM!

Is there a decoder ring available to decipher these posts?

As far as joseph I am willing to bet there is more to this story and cant wait til it all comes out. Just shown no heart or dedication in the middle of training camp out partying.

  10. Do the Vikings ever make the news with something football related? This dysfunctional franchise always seems to have some type of controversy every week.

  11. Joseph was miffed by the late responding emergency services. I guess his money phone doesn’t get the reception Manziel’s does.

  12. Skoobyfl that’s just such an ignorant comment to make. He was out having a good time and happened to get shot. Is being out at a club really a bad life choice? If so then how many millions of 20-something’s are making bad life choices every weekend? Come on man be real… Or do you honestly think no one should go to clubs ever?

  13. Do the Vikings ever make the news with something football related?

Teddy’s a bust. That news came out yesterday.

  14. Wondering how many times we’re going to see that Plaxico Burress joke. It’s been posted on here at least 3 times already.

  15. He was in the wrong place at the wrong time, sort of like the Vikings in all 4 Superbowls and the last 5 NFC Championship games.

I wish him a speedy recovery, we don’t want any excuses when the Vikings finish in last place, yet again.

  16. the only club in green bay is the [ he man she hater club ], and it closes at 5 pm because they have to get home to eat mom’s homemade canned campbell’s chunky soup.

  17. Poor Vikings fans can only have come backs that insult others when they’re the biggest joke of any franchise in the NFL. Poor little Vikings fans Super Bowls are for real teams like the Seahawks, Saints and Packers! bahahahahah

    No excuses here.
Weren’t you the Troll or was it one of the other Packer Backers that I read about that was crying about all of your boys going down in training camp.
I got your excuse, it’s going to be in the form of sweeping the Packers this year and taking the division

Has to be the lamest post of the day!

  20. Hey, I just got here, anybody manage to squeeze in a Plaxico Burress joke yet? If not, here’s one.

He must have been with Plaxico Burress that night!
Ha Ha!!! That one never gets old.

Anywho, this has to be a disappointment to the Viking defensive coaching staff, as they were counting on him to help their D cut their points per game down to 28 instead of the 30 they averaged last year.

Seriously though, get well soon, and wear your pads the next time you go clubbing.

I am glad the Vikings have the 1969 NFL championship. Because it would suck to not have one.

Sorry maybe the name should have been 1960toforevervikingssuckbigtimewithzerorolombardis
Poor lil fella, can’t relate to that!
who really cares if GB sucked during those years, Seahawks, Saints & Packers all have 1 Lombardi alone in the last 5 years a piece…1969 Championship then got smoked by the Chiefs in the real game! bahahahaha

Packer fans can trash talk all they want in pre season.. Regular season, their comments will be few if any..
Funny, haven’t you been saying that for the last 50 years with Zero Lombardi’s to show for it?

How does a team win a championship when they lose to a Kansas City team in the Super Bowl in 1969?

  24. Hhhhmmm let me guess who drafts more busted players. Our news is better than cheese heads news where players go on IR every time. That means they’re busted. Now how many busted players have been on IR for last 2 week? I’ll let trolls figure that out.

Do you realize how dumb you sound? 4 years ago the Packers won the Super Bowl with 15 guys on IR. Yes won the Super Bowl (foreign concept for Viking fans). They have won 3 straight division titles, yeah their drafting is really bad compared to the Vikings!
Who cares how many players are on IR, it’s about winning. I know that’s difficult for a 12 year old girl to understand Cody.

  26. How does a team win a championship when they lose to a Kansas City team in the Super Bowl in 1969?

They won the NFL Championship. Not too hard to understand.

There was the NFL. There was the AFL. 2 leagues. The merger hadn’t happened yet.

Again, not too hard to understand.

  27. What position did you play when “you” won your Super Bowls. Fair weather fans. Reminds me of the early 90’s when a buddy of mine suddenly was a cowboys fan then he was a Pats fan. Basically every team that won the SuperBowl. That’s Packers fans, in the 70’s and 80’s nowhere to be found they had to play in Milwaukee. Then when they started winning again the fans came out of the woodwork. Same in Seattle when they were in he kingdome. Don’t get started on the cheating corrupt ref Saints, they’re fans put bags on their heads and up until Bree’s arrived cheered for the arena league Voodoo more than the Aints. So shut your hole. Yeah the Vikings have lost 4 Super Bowls and 5 NFC title games since their last SB loss but the fans are still there and won’t abandon them. That’s a true fan not a front running bandwagon fan. Every Vikings fan knows the Vikings ability to let them down and to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

  29. When you look up the Packers 13 league championships, you’ll notice a disclaimer next to the 13. “Does not include the AFL or NFL Championships won during the same seasons as the AFL-NFL Super Bowl Championships prior to the 1970 AFL-NFL Merger.”

Meaning, the league doesn’t recognize the 1966-1969 “NFL Champions” as being the technical “League Champions” unless they also won the Super Bowl. But desperate Vikings fans still try to count 1969, because it’s all their pathetic team has. If you guys want to count 1969 as a “championship” then I guess we need to add two more to the Packers record tally of 13, leaving Green Bay with 15 championships. So, 13-0, or 15-1…..which sounds better to you Lavender Larrys?

    1 0

It’s more than a little sad to see how many times you’ve already trolled this board.

  31. Like I said, if you want to count 1969, then I guess you have to add two to the Packers tally of 13. Since the Packers won the NFL Championship in 1966 and 1967, then, unlike the sad Vikings, also went on to win the Super Bowl in both years.

The point is, you’re counting a glorified NFC Championship as being a “World” Championship. Once the Super Bowl started, nobody cared about who won the NFL or AFL Title Games. They cared about who won the Super Bowl. And the Vikings lost.

When you go on the Pro Football Hall of Fame website and look up the list of Champions (can’t include links on here, or else this message won’t show up), the Champion for the 1969 season is listed as the Kansas City Chiefs. Because, you know, they beat the Vikings in the final game.

  32. In the next 3-5 years the Super Star QB’s goes like this:

    1. Bridgewater
    2. Luck
    3. Kaepernick
    4. Wilson
    5. Foles

Ha ha ha no peewee Rodgers on my list bc he’s out of the league by then and cheese heads will beg for mercy from Vikings.

Funny, jealous much? You clowns can call Rodgers anything you want but you do have to call him one thing you can never call a Vikings QB…SUPER BOWL CHAMPION! Buhahahahaha
