Marshawn Lynch investigated after assault allegation

lynch AP

Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch is being investigated by police in Bellevue, Washington, after an “allegation of an assault and personal property damage,” according to a statement from the Bellevue Police Department.

Lynch has not been arrested or charged, and police say they have not determined whether Lynch was actually involved in the incident.

“The Bellevue Police Department is in the process of gathering the facts of this alleged incident, including verifying whether or not Mr. Lynch was in fact involved,” police said in a statement. “No arrests have been made. There is no further information available at this time.”

Police have not gone into detail about the nature of the allegation, but they did say it was over an incident at an apartment building early on Sunday morning, and that “no domestic violence or sexual assault was involved in the allegation.” The only information police have released about the alleged victim is that she is female.

Lynch has been in trouble with the law before, including a 2008 guilty plea to hit and run, a 2014 guilty plea to reckless driving as the resolution to a DUI arrest, and a 2009 guilty plea to misdemeanor weapons charges, the latter of which resulted in a three-game suspension to start the 2009 season. Lynch reported to Seahawks camp on July 31 after a brief holdout resulted in the Seahawks agreeing to increase his 2014 base salary.

It’s ok, he will only get suspended for a half of a game. Unless they find pot on him, then it’s 6 games.

Now we know why he showed up to camp and tried to collect everything he could early on his contract, makes just too much sense from a business standpoint. The Bills dumped him because he’s a problem & a punk, no way he will ever determine when his career is over. That will happen via a league banning, it’s just a matter of time.

Lynch is the biggest bust and is highly overrated.

  30. whatjusthapped says: Aug 11, 2014 2:47 PM

He’s owed due process but you could see why most football fans are unwilling to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Prior gun charges, DUI, hit and run, and losing your driver’s license is not resume material for the local boy scouts and he plays on a team with a cheater for a coach, a long list of PED violations, and a couple of low rent characters, this all adds up. So much for the dynasty the PEDhawk fans love to spout.

I have a great idea that the NFL could put into place…..why don’t they just pay the players enough money for them to have a “reasonable” life style during their NFL carrier (maybe $100K a year) and when the player retires he get’s the complete value of the contract he earned during the years he was active plus 3-4% interest. This way they can’t get into trouble or have problems with getting too rich, too soon.

The utter ignorance in this comment is astounding.

    1. They didn’t assume their suspect was Marshawn Lynch based on seeing a big black guy run from the scene. The woman making the allegation told them it was Lynch. Whether that is true or not remains to be seen.

    2. Aldon Smith was most definately not caught with “fully auto weapons.” Fully automatic weapons (machine guns) are VERY tightly regulated and its such an extreme hassle to get them in any part of the country that most people don’t bother. Aldon Smith got in trouble for owning several types of semi-automatic rifles that are legal in pretty much the whole country (he bought them legally in Arizona) except liberal havens like California.

Try to be a little more informed before you comment next time.

Never mind they both have multiple DUIs and felony gun charges they had to deal with. Why he isn’t facing the same (6-8) game suspension Aldon Smith is a mystery to me. Perhaps the league doesn’t like bad press on recent Super Bowl winners. That would explain why Lynch got no suspension for his 2nd DUI and Ray Rice a 2 game suspension for knocking his girl out cold. Not true. Lynch has no DUIs, never found guilty of DUI and he was right at the legal limit, not like he was drunk. Also never convicted of felony gun possession. A gun in a back pack in your trunk, most states not a crime at all. He was convicted of a misdemeanor gun charge on possessing a concealed weapon, a ridiculous charge since he technically was not in possession of the gun.

Oh and the hit in run, not a criminal charge at all it was a civil penalty of $100 fine, no criminal charges ever brought.

Hey Pal…sorry, but you’ve got more than Aldon Smith. You’ve got Aldon Smith, Chris Culliver, Ahmad Brooks, Quinton Patton. And the problem with Aldon Smith isn’t that he got a DUI. It’s that he got like three DUIs, fired guns off a balcony, got into a knife fight and got stupid at the airport. Lynch possessed a gun, got a DUI and is now investigated, but not charged with assault. Apples and Oranges buddy. Not to mention your “standout” linebacker who hits teammates over the head with glass bottles for trying to stop him from killing people on the road. And it’s your coach who decided to say he was “above reproach”. So he put that target on his own back. Enjoy. Oh…and you need a real quarterback if you’re ever going to win the big one.

“The Bellevue Police Department issued this press release:

On August 10, 2014, at approximately 2:20 p.m., the Bellevue Police Department received an allegation of an assault and personal property damage at a downtown Bellevue apartment unit. The incident was alleged to have occurred at 2:30 a.m. on August 10.

Sounds a wee bit suspicious that it took 12 hours to make the allegation. Maybe a woman scorned?

The 2012th man are nothing but bandwagon hypocrites. They were quick to jump on kaepernick but when something similar happens to PEDmode he’s 100# innocent. Last time I checked lynch was the one with the rap sheet (guns, drugs, and DUIs) not kaepernick. Maybe Pete the Cheat can fix this one for his team to.
