Marvin Jones to miss “a few weeks” with a broken foot

MarvinJones AP

The Bengals are fortunate to have a number of threats in the passing game, but they might have one fewer when the season starts.

According to Geoff Hobson of the team’s official website, wide receiver Marvin Jones will miss “a few weeks” after breaking a bone in his foot Saturday.

Surgery was performed to put a pin in his fifth metatarsal. It’s similar to the injury that cost Mohamed Sanu the last month of the 2012 season.

Jones emerged as a playmaker last season, catching 51 passes for 712 yards and 10 touchdowns, and paired with A.J. Green for one of the AFC’s top tandems of wideouts.

But now, they’re going to have to work without him for some time, opening the door for Sanu or Dane Sanzenbacher to play a more prominent role.

This won’t hurt the Bungles… They have a plethora of quality depth at WR, and the most talented roster in the N.F.L… (Even though they haven’t won a playoff game since 1990…)

No biggie sanu starts and sanz is third. Just means more eifert and Gio which is fine

Dang, it would be nice to still have Hawkins.
Sanu and Eiffert have been killing it in camp though and the RBs are decent receivers so there will be plenty of options.

    Hue will figure it out.

Sorry boys, those #3 Receivers don’t grow on trees…and Dane IS NOT a #3, no matter how much you want it to be.

I agree GBwomenrhot…….get ready for a full does of Gio with Eifert & Gresham playing in a lot more 2TE sets.
Be careful what you wish for AFC North foes. Be careful what you wish for. Remember Putzberg, Ratbirds & Clowns….yer trying to CATCH the Bengals, not fend them off.

Dang, big loss for the Bengals. Jones is on the verge of a breakout after a promising year last year. Now teams will be doubling on AJ.

Shouldn’t be hard to catch the bengals. To use a metaphor, how hard would it be to catch a race car driven by a 90yr old woman, and stalls out 100% of the time on the first lap.

    Great metaphor, crownofthehelmet……crickets.

Probably pretty hard when your 96 & you use a walker. Kinda like 2/3 of your Roster!!!!

Too easy Crown……give me a challenge! Please!!!!

i think the wheels fall off the bengals this yr. a team can’t keep losing playoff gms, particularly at home. it eventually catches up with you and the window closes, like atlanta. i think the dalton extension will be deemed a mistake. and geno atkins and leon hall may struggle to return to form post-injury. balt or pitt supplants cinc as div winner, and cinc fails to get wildcard.

also the losses of coordinators gruden and more so zimmer are huge but not reported much by the media.

He hurt it walking all over Dee Milliner’s back. He’s only out a few weeks… A minor setback.

This won’t hurt the Bengals. They have a ton of talented pass catchers.

I can nearly PROMISE you this will not be “a few
weeks” type of injury.. If this is a “Jones Fracture” (Google it) he could be out for 8-12 weeks minimum.

Also, Jones fractures often do not heal completely. They linger. Good luck Marvin. You may need it!

no fear bengals stacked at WR

I’m not worried about the Bengals as they have Sanu, Eifert, Gio, etc who can take up the slack. I’m a little worried about my fantasy team since drafted Jones a couple of weeks ago.
