After releasing Andre Brown earlier on Monday, the Houston Texans have added a pair of running back to replenish their ranks.

According to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle, the Texans have agreed to terms with Ronnie Brown and William Powell.

Brown and Powell worked out for the Texans earlier on Monday along with Brian Leonard.

Brown appeared in 30 games over the last two season for the San Diego Chargers. Brown rushed for 157 yards and one touchdown on 45 carries last season in backing up Ryan Mathews.

Powell last played for the Arizona Cardinals in 2012, appearing in 13 games. Powell rushed for 217 yards on 60 carries and caught 19 passes for 132 yards. He was claimed off waivers by the Philadelphia Eagles last offseason but failed his physical and was released.

Following the release of Brown, the Texans have 89 players on their active roster. They will need to clear a roster spot before the two running backs can both be signed.

I’ll trade you a half dozen worn out running backs for 1 good QB

    Rick Smith

They released Dennis Johnson for Ronnie Brown, a RB that hasn’t did nothing since 2010!? Really!?

I’m afraid Rick Smith and Bill O’Brien don’t know what the hell they’re doing!

What the heck is going on?!? Ronnie “Old-Man” Brown gives you a better chance at productivity than Andre Brown? I am so confused. I did not hear that Brown was injured. I am starting to think the Texans are going to go a lot further down before they start back up… Like another top 5 pick is in their near future…

They released 3 running backs and signed 2 back. Roster size should be fine.

“Instead of a number, Ronnie Brown’s jersey will just have a picture of a fork sticking out of his back.”

I don’t know what signing a dead golden age film actor will do, but maybe the Texans just see something in him that the rest of do not.

I forgot about Ronnie Brown. Houston is going to be so good.

Brown will be good for pass pro. He’s not given any credit for it and was a good pass catcher in San Diego in 2012.

Ronnie Brown was a super mega stud pro, here in San Diego, for the last few years. The man does not age.

    Great pick-up, Texans.
