Texans dump Andre Brown

The handwriting was on the wall when he didn’t play on Saturday night.  It’s now been reduced to a pink slip.

Per a league source, the Texans have dumped running back Andre Brown.

A fourth-round pick of the Giants in 2009, he has bounced around the league, with four different teams in 2010 (Broncos, Colts, Panthers, Washington).  He found a home with the team that drafted him in 2011, spending three years in New York.

Brown signed a one-year, $645,000 contract with the Texans in the offseason, after a pair of 100-yard games for the Giants last season.  His breakout game came on a Thursday night in 2012, when he gained 113 yards and scored a pair of touchdowns against the Panthers.

    So what’s the problem with him?

    Does he refuse to knock his wife out or drive drunk? Why don’t one of the Harbaughs want him?

    This guy has bad luck and dumb move by the Texans, those clowns need all the help they can get!! HAHA Texans are the laughing stock of the NFL

  3. Steeler Nation is so far above you and your lowly franchise. We built this league. Pittsburgh's three rivers are made from the tears of our opponents. Bow to your supreme overlords. says: Aug 11, 2014 8:14 PM

    Another GIANT BUST

  4. kdentify says: Aug 11, 2014 8:16 PM

    What’s wrong with him is injuries and the fact that we have better RBs on the squad. Try again, though.

  5. kd75 says: Aug 11, 2014 8:17 PM

    GMen will pick him up as insurance.

  6. kev86 says: Aug 11, 2014 8:17 PM

    He sang “I got a ring.. ” on his way out.

  7. skoobyfl says: Aug 11, 2014 8:40 PM

    If they need a RB, Buffalo has Spiller available for your first round pick.

  8. berniemadoffsides says: Aug 11, 2014 8:41 PM

    He’ll probably sign with the Giants – we need depth.

  9. faepernick says: Aug 11, 2014 8:41 PM

    I thought he looked good last year when he got the opportunity to play. There are definitely some teams out there that could use him right now.

  10. darcrequiem says: Aug 11, 2014 8:54 PM

    Washingtion was he a Huskie? I thought played for and was cut by the Redskins?

    Sorry, last post must have broken a rule.

    At least use all nicknames or all Team names instead of eliminating Redskins.

    If he has a ring, he is one up on all 53 Vikings for the last 53 years.

    In fact, I just took The Browns to The Super Bowl.

    Makes perfect sense. Their best option behind Arian Foster is absolutely no one. Then again who needs to run when your starting QB is…. who?

  15. louiedogg16 says: Aug 11, 2014 9:19 PM

    Speaking strictly from a fantasy point of view, this guy was productive (when he played) for the Giants. Odd to see him bouncing around.

  16. 20texans02 says: Aug 11, 2014 9:20 PM

    Texans also cut two more runningbacks. Must be getting ready to bring someone else in. Cut 3 backs in one day.

  17. rdumont55 says: Aug 11, 2014 9:22 PM

    A reunion with the Giants makes perfect sense. But he must have done something as guys like him do not get cut that early in camp.

  18. wave222 says: Aug 11, 2014 9:29 PM

    Nice young man.
    Good runner.
    Just some bad luck.

    He can still play; someone should pick him up!!

    I sure hope you’re right!! He worked just fine for Big Blue last season!

    Texans schedule:
    Was: L
    @Oak: L
    @Nyg: L
    Buf: L
    (The team will give up, Obrien will walk out)
    @Dal: L
    Ind: L
    @Pit: L
    @Ten: L
    Phi: L (Start of 40-7 losses)
    @Cle: L
    Cin: L
    Ten: L
    @Jac: L
    @Ind: L
    Bal: L
    Jac: L

    The Texans will have a historically awful season, if they get two wins it will be a successful season, though they may get a win over Buffalo or Tennessee.

  22. eaglesnoles05 says: Aug 11, 2014 9:53 PM

    He was a Wolfpack.

  23. roddoliver says: Aug 11, 2014 10:16 PM

    Maybe that’s the best thing that could have happened to Andre Brown.

  24. russellwestbrooksucks says: Aug 11, 2014 10:18 PM

    There goes one of my fantasy sleepers. ..

    ”Texans dump Andre Brown”

    Wow! John Harbaugh was right about the media being more negative than positive.
    Look at that headline

  26. bassplucker says: Aug 11, 2014 10:28 PM

    It must be very hard these days being a Texans fan an even harder being a player. There just doesn’t seem to be any plan in place there at all.

  27. hardspun says: Aug 11, 2014 10:54 PM

    Well that’s that then.

  28. ialwayswantedtobeabanker says: Aug 11, 2014 11:15 PM

    No fan ever wants to wake up learning that their team is responsible for a Brown dump.

  29. starfan79 says: Aug 11, 2014 11:24 PM

    Every Texan fan will say that it’s a good move… they will say they are super bowl contenders now that they have clowney. They will also deny they are the worst team in football and that is how they got clowney.

  30. jagsfanugh says: Aug 12, 2014 1:15 AM

    spend that money wisely. We know you won’t but hey.

  31. rajbais says: Aug 12, 2014 2:47 AM

    Running backs from the Giants seem to fail elsewhere. First, Brandon Jacobs and now Andre Brown.

    Hopefully, the Giants take him back instead of keeping Peyton Hillis.

  32. joemontanawasthegreatest says: Aug 12, 2014 5:37 AM

    The Giants will end up with him, very fortunate they need a back.

  33. bradyisyourdaddy says: Aug 12, 2014 7:28 AM

    I thought it was Andre Johnson and got excited

  34. 10elite says: Aug 12, 2014 9:15 AM

    With Wilson gone and Hillis hurt, I’d be happy to have him back in blue.

  35. sparty0n says: Aug 12, 2014 9:21 AM

    Broncos, Colts, Panthers, Washington -Seriously?

  36. eastofmissball says: Aug 12, 2014 10:31 AM

    Not a lot of depth there Rick, especially with size and power.. And w/ Arian “My toe hurts” you think you can count on him??
    Give the dude camp to see what he has at least… Again and Again Rick Smith.. Got to say, I am going to chuckle when the roof falls in on you, or at least one of those giant TV’s. Seriously.. Do you really have a clue what the hell your doing???
