Drew Brees is back in pads, but still not practicing fully

When a player is as central to a team’s fortunes as Drew Brees is to the Saints, his daily practice attire is worth noting.

According to Larry Holder of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, the Saints quarterback was back in full pads for this morning’s practice.

Brees has been out of practice since Aug. 1 with a strained oblique, and the Saints haven’t said much beyond the general “day-to-day,” designation.

He’s apparently not going through a full workload today, but the simple act of wearing pads is a step forward, as they protect their franchise quarterback from aggravating an injury that could linger.

Looks like playing until the age of 45 years old might not be as easy to reach as he thought. Unfortunately we all get old and the body ages just like a car no matter how well we take care of it…….

True, the body ages like a car, only in a car you can replace all the parts…

I pulled muscles all the time as a kid. Doesnt just happen because you are on the plus side of 30.

    Brees will be fine.

Time for that old man to retire.

You wish! , kane337. Time for you and the Failcants coach, Meek Smith to retire. Sean Payton will drive the incompetent Falcons to the bottom of the NFC South.

That’s a tricky injury for a quarterback. Saints already know he’s a baller. Why not just rest him til week 1?

He still has to stay sharp as timing is his #1 weapon against defenses.
I think he will be fine. If the Saints defense and running game is competent this year then he won’t have to be the great Drew Bress, just the “good” Drew Brees.

The window closed for the Saints when Bountygate came to light. It got locked and boarded up tight when old man Brees demanded that ridiculous long term contract at his advanced age.

Im not overly concerned he will be fine and Griffin looks like possibly the future and is proving to be quite a find
