Lardarius Webb wants to play in preseason, not sure if he will

Ravens cornerback Lardarius Webb missed the team’s first preseason game and he’s already been ruled out for this week’s contest because of a back injury that was initially described as minor when Webb got hurt two weeks ago.

While that label seems like a poor fit given how long Webb has been out, the cornerback said that he “will be back” as soon as he gets the green light from coach John Harbaugh and the rest of the team’s decision makers. He’s hopeful that clearance comes before the end of the preseason, but says the experience of returning from two torn ACLs leaves him feeling comfortable if things go the other way.

“I hate to say many times, but I’ve been in this position many times,” Webb said, via ESPN.com. “With ACL No. 1 and ACL No. 2, I missed all of the preseason and had to come back Week 1 or Week 2. I’ve done it before. The other things were knees, so I think that was harder than a back. We’ll see.”

The Ravens suffered another blow at cornerback Monday when Asa Jackson left practice with an ankle injury. The team expects him to miss a few days, but, like Webb, the feeling is that he’ll be fine once the meaningful games get underway.
