PFT on NBCSN welcomes Peyton Manning

PeytonManning AP

Broncos quarterback and five-time NFL MVP Peyton Manning has launched his annual DirecTV promotional tour, fresh from the debut of a new, quasi-rap video with his brother, Eli.

Like last year (when he clued us all in to the coming dominance of tight end Julius Thomas), Peyton carved out a little time for Pro Football Talk on NBCSN.

Tune in at 5:30 p.m. ET for the interview of the Super Bowl XLI MVP.  Also on the show is the Super Bowl XL MVP, Hines Ward.

We’ll be talking Broncos, Steelers, and Bears training-camp story lines, and we’ll unveil the results of today’s poll question.  And plenty of other stuff.

Based on his past couple of years, I think the 45-ish mark is reasonable.

I say between 30-40 because they have to play all the NFC WEST teams which have the toughest defenses of any division. I see a slight reduction in his numbers

This is the year it all comes to an end for Peyton. Denver as a team played over its head last year. The Seahawks showed how to get to them. This year, the Broncos will struggle to make the playoffs.

Elway mortgaged the future. Is Peyton better than Tebow? Sure. But, they put off the inevitable. Is Peyton even as good as his younger brother (who has won two Super Bowls and beat the undefeated Patriots to get one of them)? Nope. Peyton Manning could not get the job done against UF and then Tee Martin — say it again, Tee Martin — came in and delivered a National Championship. Peyton’s pro career is marked by similar, if not worse, big game failures.
