Seahawks call accusations against Lynch “bogus”

Lynch AP

Much remains unknown about the vague allegations of assault and personal property damage made against Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch.  But the Seahawks know enough to offer a sweeping condemnation of them.

“While we maintain the utmost respect for the investigative process, after speaking with Marshawn, we are comfortable these accusations are bogus,” the team said in a statement issued Tuesday.

Without more, it’s impossible to know whether the Seahawks have simply opted to believe a potentially biased account of the facts, or whether Lynch has managed to persuasively refute each and every accusation with conclusive evidence that proves he didn’t do whatever he is accused of doing.

Regardless, the Seahawks won’t have the last word on this.  Criminal action remains possible.  Even if Lynch isn’t arrested, charged, or prosecuted, his history could make the NFL even more zealous about investigating the situation on its own, going beyond Lynch’s version of the events and examining the facts fully, fairly, and objectively.

There’s a common theme in the Seahawks organization.

    The front office.
    Personnel.
    And players.

They are all unclassy people, that stick up for losers like Marshawn.

This man should be incarcerated by now.

Plus this organization cheated to win.

Please ban this team from the NFL, and make everyone happy.

  2. mathomp3 says: Aug 12, 2014 2:21 PM

Oh because being fair and objective is exactly what the NFL is know for…

  3. kylexitron says: Aug 12, 2014 2:23 PM

Anyone from WA will tell you that the Bellevue Police Department is about as incompetent as they come. Whether that works for or against Lynch remains to be seen. But “Bogus” is a good word for a lot of their “police work”.

  4. gohawks7 says: Aug 12, 2014 2:23 PM

Hopefully they have vetted the facts from Marshawn and have faith in him. I don’t think they want to end up with egg on their face.

  5. buds4grant says: Aug 12, 2014 2:26 PM

Bogus, just like the laundry list of other charges Lynch has paid “liars’ to thwart.

  6. 4thquartermagic says: Aug 12, 2014 2:26 PM

The accuser was then reached for comment:

    “I’m ’bout that action boss.”

  7. scrp2 says: Aug 12, 2014 2:27 PM

Should have went to the white house. Could have got a pardon.

  8. shawkfan51 says: Aug 12, 2014 2:28 PM

On previous occasions, Seattle’s first response to allegations that a player has had trouble with the law have been fairly boilerplate: “we are aware of the situation,” etc. For them to come out so soon and so definitively say this is nothing is a substantial change from the way they have handled things in the past and a pretty good sign that these allegations really are “bogus.”

  9. braceyourselffor12 says: Aug 12, 2014 2:28 PM

Just like their overrated secondary is bogus, Legion of Frauds.

  10. faepernick says: Aug 12, 2014 2:29 PM

Marshawn Lynch is a criminal and assaulted someone. He should be punished accordingly, minimum 8 game ban. This team is filled with drug users and punks.

  11. revelation123 says: Aug 12, 2014 2:30 PM

Fortunately for Lynch and unfortunately for the Seahawks, it looks like he got a new contract at the right time.

  12. slugbaitspace says: Aug 12, 2014 2:30 PM

Judging by the tone of this article, can we assume that the Bellevue police HAVE determined that Lynch was even involved? Because I can’t find anything after googling it…all other articles say the police are still investigating if he was even involved.

Seahawks should just stay out of Bellevue but that’s where most of them guys live. Smh… The “dynasty” is getting off to a rough start.

  15. whatnojets says: Aug 12, 2014 2:32 PM

Wow!! The NFL now has more powers than the United States Supreme Court!

  16. cartire says: Aug 12, 2014 2:32 PM

You guys realize this was at 2 am and that during training camp, the players have a a curfew and all stay in teh same hotel.

Im thinking that the Hawks released the statement because they have seen video, or have witness that can attest for Lynch’s NON-actions.

I do like how, like usual, when something seems to be nothing, you try to make sure WE MAKE SURE WITHOUT A SHADOW OF A DOUBT THERE IS NOTHING.

    – Maurkice Pouncey

  21. kuranda84 says: Aug 12, 2014 2:35 PM

I don’t really think the Hawks organization would say somethig like this unless it’s a pretty crazy accusation. Usually teams say something to the effect, “We are aware of the situation and monitoring it.” They don’t usually say something this forceful.

Perhaps it’s wishful thinking, but I think the Hawks are smarter than that.

  22. scrotiemcb says: Aug 12, 2014 2:36 PM

I’m guessing the Hawks know that Lynch, at that time, was too busy banging PEDs to assault a dude.

I believe them. They are very meticulous when it comes to their PEDs.

  23. pete2112 says: Aug 12, 2014 2:37 PM

Of course they’re bogus. Just like all the other off the field issues he’s had.

I don’t think I’ll ever get it why some of these guys can’t just see what they have in their lives and be thankful. They had a one in a million chance to play in the NFL which for some means making life changing income and some will do just about anything to blow that.

  25. bassnw says: Aug 12, 2014 2:43 PM

  26. patsbrat says: Aug 12, 2014 2:46 PM

…after speaking with Marshawn, we are comfortable these accusations are bogus,”

I like watching Marshawn on the field so hope this works out.

But Marshawn is not the sharpest tool in the shed, so I hope his accounting of whatever happened actually holds water from a legal standpoint.

  27. craniator says: Aug 12, 2014 2:47 PM

“Vague allegations”. But when Mike Pouncey was hit with a bogus lawsuit last month , they weren’t vague allegations , were they ?

  28. clashpoint says: Aug 12, 2014 2:48 PM

I hate to be jaded here, but does anyone else notice a trend of a player signing a new contract, then someone accusing them of something improper where a bunch of money might be involved?

I don’t really care what player it was for what team anymore. I just don’t believe a lot of this stuff anymore and I don’t think I’d ever leave my house after I signed a new contract. Use whatever phrasing you care to choose, but an awful lot of it seems to be bogus.

  36. cguy7 says: Aug 12, 2014 3:04 PM

If it comes from the Seahawks front office or Cheat Carroll, it is gospel… I mean, he couldn’t have left the hotel after bed check and he’s never been in trouble before… Pete had no idea that USC was getting hit with sanctions before he left either… Funny.

If Aldon Smith is suspended for more than 2 games, Marshawn should get like 8 games…using Goodell logic. DUI is worse than knocking unconscious a woman. So baseless charges should be worse than DUI.

  51. Shinnbone says: Aug 12, 2014 4:32 PM

There’s a common theme in the Vikings organization…

    Star Caps
    Love Boat
    Whizzenator

They should have dispersed that franchise decades ago..the NFL would have attained it’s current popularity that much sooner without this band of losers dragging them down.

    Gee, this is easy.

  54. realitycheckbaby says: Aug 12, 2014 4:35 PM

I said it before and I’ll say it again.

Whether fair or not, bet on Goodell laying the lumber to Aldon.

Goodell got way too much flack about his “handling” of Rock ‘em Sock ‘em Rice, and will be looking to regain PR brownie points.

If you’re a Niner you have to hope he’ll give him credit for “time served” based on games missed last year but the overall suspension will be 8 games.

  55. bullcharger says: Aug 12, 2014 4:54 PM

As far as I know, the Lombardi trophy currently belongs to the Seahawks and their fans.

No amount of moronic, rhetorical hating will ever change that. It’s a done deal. Get over it already.

The difference between you numbnuts and the Seahawks organization is that Seattle has already moved on and are thoroughly focused in their preparation of defending their championship,…You however, are still wallowing in the pain of your loyalty to a flailing franchise that would probably have a hard time getting tickets to the Super Bowl, much less play in one and win it.

There are various therapeutic options available to deal with your grief. I highly suggest you take advantage.

Keep hating people,…It’s just another log on the fire as far as the Seahawks are concerned. Your BS is nothing but fertilizer to a growing franchise.

    Go Hawks!!!

  80. releasetheharvin says: Aug 13, 2014 3:15 PM

Let’s keep something in mind. This is training camp. The team is in lock-down at the team hotel. There are guards on every floor and at every exit. They do bed-checks. There are people that will do/say almost anything for their 15 minutes of fame. These are the reasons the Seattle Seahawk staff is so certain of these charges being “bogus”.
But, if you just want to hate regardless of the facts, feel free!
