The Falcons liked what they saw from running backs Devonta Freeman and Antone Smith in the preseason opener, but they probably liked what they saw on the practice field yesterday even more.

According to Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com, veteran running back Steven Jackson has started doing some work again, his first since suffering a hamstring injury on July 28.

Jackson did some agility drills on a side field, but wasn’t doing any sprints just yet.

The Falcons expect the 31-year-old running back to be healthy for the regular season opener, and they need him to add some balance to their offense after a disappointing 2013 season.
