Ziggy Ansah cleared to start practicing

The Lions haven’t had their 2013 first-round pick Ziggy Ansah on the field at training camp yet, but that is changing on Tuesday.

They’ll practice on Tuesday night and Ansah will be eligible to join them after being activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list. Ansah was placed on the list as he continued his recovery from offseason surgery to correct a shoulder problem that Ansah was dealing with before joining the Lions.

Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press calls it “unlikely” that Ansah will play in this Friday’s game against the Raiders, but he could be ready to go for the team’s third preseason game and has a lot of time to get himself into game shape by the start of the regular season.

Ansah had eight sacks and two forced fumbles during his rookie season and the Lions will be looking for even more from him as they try to get back on track after the sluggish end to their regular season in 2013.

    Finally!

It’s about time. The team has been playing it safe with Ansah.

Time to get after it, Z.

I have a feeling that the Lions DL and the Bears OL are gonna have some epic faceoffs this year.

The Bears offensive line is still leaky. The Lions defensive line is going to wreck the NFC North.

Another diva on the Lions D-Line. They have quite the eye for drafting these kind of players on the defensive side of the ball don’t they?

Good news for Lions fans. I’m not sure if Ziggy is going to become an All PRO but I do think he makes that defence better.
He’s the kind of player who can make those one or two plays that can change the outcome of a game, and that’s exactly what the Lions need from him.

The Bears Oline is marginal at best, Suh, Fairly, and Ansah will continue to destroy them.

What offensive line isn’t leaky from time to time, wisconsinhillfolk is stating the obvious cause he can’t conjure up a descent or original troll line. Read a book or something, you’re intelligent level is way below sub-par.

Lions D Line is by far the best and most intimidating in the NFC North, should be a great season.

    3 weeks…

Ziggy’s back…. bad news for the NFC North foes.

He will have a JPP/JJ Watt sophmore type of year.. bank it.

I have high hopes for the Detroit D… but realistic expectations. We’ll see if the heart backs up the hype.

D line looked very uninspired vs the Brownies.

With age comes wisdom and Ansah knows how much to push his body.

Ansah was pretty good for a rookie with a bum shoulder. If that surgery went well he’s be better than last year, which is a good sign.
