Cardinals signing Desmond Bishop

The Cardinals are without their top two inside linebackers from last season with Daryl Washington suspended and Karlos Dansby in Cleveland, leaving them with Kevin Minter and Larry Foote as starters heading into the season.

Arizona may not be totally thrilled with their options in the event that either of those players is forced out of the lineup because they are adding some more veteran depth at the position. Tom Pelissero of USA Today reports that the Cardinals are signing Desmond Bishop.

Bishop tore his ACL last October, ending his stay in Minnesota after just four games. Bishop also missed the entire 2012 season for the Packers after a serious hamstring injury, so it has been a while since he’s been at full speed.

Should he be healthy enough to get there this summer, Bishop should wind up as a top backup at inside linebacker for Arizona. Ernie Sims, who was trying to earn that role, was recently let go by the team.

Packer fans wailed when he was released, but it was the right call by TT. It’s a shame he can’t stay healthy …

He definitely played with good fire and intensity in GB and earned his SB ring.

That he did. The middle of the field in GB
still misses him. Wish you well Desmond.

Played pretty good in MN for a few games before going down. Could have been a steal, still might be for AZ.

As a football fan I welcome the signing of Bishop Desmond Tutu. Much success do I wish for him in Arizona.

He should just retire… sometimes staying in the game is just not in the cards, no matter the potential.

The guy has a motor that won’t quit. Best of luck to Bishop. He wanted to be Defensive Player of the Year but injuries damaged that goal.

He was great for the Packers while healthy. Hopefully he can bring it in AZ.

A guy who waited his turn in GB, played great when he got it, but just had terrible luck on the injury front.
Hope that bad luck has ended.

Some players have bad injury luck whether they play in GB or not.

I hope he rebounds and has a couple of good years.

He’s an awesome leader and an awesome player – I hope he does good in Arizona (until we play them).
