Bears tight end Zach Miller, who suffered a foot injury Thursday night vs. Jacksonville, has been placed on injured reserve, the club said Friday.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, Miller has a Lisfranc foot injury.
The 29-year-old Miller was vying for a reserve role with Chicago. By putting him on injured reserve, the Bears will open a roster spot, and adding another tight end could be in the cards at some point. The club only has four tight ends on the 90-player roster: Martellus Bennett, Jeron Mastrud, Dante Rosario and Matthew Mulligan.
A fifth-year pro from Nebraska-Omaha, Miller has caught 45 passes for 470 yards and four TDs in his NFL career.
