Keenan Lewis limps off for Saints

The Saints opened the night without several key players and another one limped off the field before the first half came to an end.

Saints cornerback Keenan Lewis headed to the back with medical personnel in the second quarter of the game shortly after leaving game. Lewis was not wearing a shoe on his left foot as he made his way to the locker room.

There’s no word yet on the specific injury or the severity, but losing Lewis would be a serious blow to the defense in New Orleans. Champ Bailey, who returned to practice this week for the first time since late July, was one of the players that didn’t suit up for the Saints on Friday night and his inaction this summer makes it almost impossible to know what he can offer this season.

Patrick Robinson, Corey White and Stanley Jean-Baptiste are the top corners still in the game for the Saints, who trail 10-7 in the second quarter after allowing the Titans to score on each of their first two possessions. Jake Locker, who made a brief cameo in the preseason opener, was 8-of-11 for 75 yards and a four-yard touchdown to Justin Hunter on those drives.
