Getty ImagesIt already was a bad night for Falcons left tackle Sam Baker, thanks to Jadeveon Clowney. It got a lot worse, thanks to a knee injury.
Baker was carted off during Atlanta’s preseason game at Houston after injuring his right knee.
A first-round pick in 2008, the same year Matt Ryan arrived in the same round, Baker appeared in only four games last year, due to a left knee injury.
If Baker can’t play, look for 2014 first-rounder Jake Matthews to be flipped over to the left side.
Am I a bad person because my first initial thought was ‘Gotta watch hard knocks this week’ ?
Maybe I won’t sleep watching Hard knocks anymore.
Geez this is he worst part of preseason – watching players go out with injuries. Last year was really bad, this year looks like its going to be bad too.
This is good news, maybe they’ll actually put Matthews where he belongs at LT instead of this guy who’s going to get Matt Ryan put on the IR.
Atlanta is cursed. By everybody.
He just got Wally Pipped…
Blessing in disguise, Sam Baker sucks.
Great now they already have an excuse for another 4 win season.
Bring in back up Lamar Holmes! 6’6″ & 333 lbs. of beefy-ness can smoosh any lightweight into a pancake. Plus he needs to justify his lofty draft status (3rd rd. 2012).
He was left in the oven too long – “over-baked!”
Dude is softer than Charmin Ultra Soft!
Bummer
Torn patella tendon, out for season. That sucks. The only positive here is that Baker isn’t very good so shouldn’t be impossible to replace. The question becomes is Jake Matthews ready to play LT from day 1? If so then it could actually be an upgrade.
