Michael Sam drops Matt Flynn for first NFL sack

St. Louis Rams defensive end said he believed he could pay in the NFL after getting his first game experience last week against the New Orleans Saints.

Now he has his first sack to further those beliefs.

With the Green Bay Packers facing a 3rd and 19 at the Rams’ 21-yard line, Sam came off the left end and tracked down quarterback Matt Flynn as Flynn was strafing out of the pocket to buy time. Flynn lost 10 yards on the play and the Packers had to settle for a 49-yard Mason Crosby field goal after having a 1st and 10 from the Rams’ 11.

Sam made just a solo tackle in his preseason debut last week against the Saints. He has two tackles and a sack with four minutes left to play against the Packers.
