Packers rookie Jayrone Elliott gets three sacks in four plays against Rams

St. Louis Rams quarterback Austin Davis may need a sizable ice pack after repeated encounters with Green Bay Packers rookie linebacker Jayrone Elliott.

The undrafted rookie out of the University of Toledo sacked Davis three times in four plays in the fourth quarter of Saturday’s game. Elliott even forced a fumble on one of the sacks that was recovered by Davis before the Packers could fall on it.

Elliott was mostly taking advantage of Rams tackle Sean Hooey, who had a performance he would like to soon forget.

Elliott didn’t record any stats in his preseason debut against the Tennessee Titans last week but put together a statement performance against the Rams. He was a first-team All-Mid-American Conference player as a senior at Toledo leading the Rockets nine sacks and 14 tackles for loss.

Sean Hooey…..soon to be fitted for an orange Home Depot apron.

Yes, the Packers are stacked at nearly every position. Easily the best team in the NFC North, and will be a Super Bowl contender yet again.

Fans of certain purple-clad teams have every right to be jealous.

Houey is terrible. He gave up another sack.

But what was Michael Sam’s and Tim Tebow’s and Johnny Manziel’s opinion of Jayrone Elliot’s performance?

  5. beanocook says: Aug 16, 2014 8:05 PM

In no sport do first year pros dominate like they do in the NFL, even undrafted FAs. It’s exciting.

  6. Ferdinand says: Aug 16, 2014 8:06 PM

I was listening to the Packer-based broadcast on radio and even their announcers felt bad for Hooey and said (in perhaps the understatement of the week) “He just isn’t ready for the pros.”

Two top five draft picks for St. Louis in the past five years on the offensive line , and the offensive line is still . . . . . well , offensive.

Don’t get overly excited greeenbay fans. Hooey is probably only slightly less talented than your starting d-line.
    Skol.

I don’t think my Vikings will record 3 sacks all season now that Jared has moved on to greener pastures.

And her come the Viking trolls with Packer envy. It’s got to suck to know you once again have absolutely no shot at a championship. Man how depressing, over 50 years and zero championships, now I understand why you troll champions articles. Geaux Saints, Seahawks and Packers (all world Champions) with classy fans!

Sean Hooey, a PERFECT name for a bad offensive tackle (as in, “a whole lotta Hooey”).

The only thing stacked in Green Bay are the pancakes the people eat for dinner.

That’s nothing, Mike Sam got one sack. Elliot getting 3 sacks playing scrub is nothing compared to Sam’s one sack playing scrub.

This kid won’t make the team, but he’ll get picked up by someone. Probably the vikings, as he’d be the best player on their team–on either side of the ball.

If Elliott would putt from the rough he’d be declared league MVP immediately.

Jayrone Elliot has been making plays since camp started. Hooey may suck but this kid has game.

My son is awesome at his game, this is just the beginning, so to you fans……….let’s get ready for a great season. 3 sacs and a forced fumble

playing against 4th string ain’t nothing special. Clowns are knocking on MN playing against Cardinals. We’ll see how Packers fair against Cardinals offense and defense. I think Cardinals are legit this year and will be better than the cheese heads.

playing against 4th string ain’t nothing special. This guy can’t even catch my granny. Just another bust for TT and losers in WI. Don’t brag yet. He hasn’t proved anything. Clowns are knocking on MN playing against Cardinals. We’ll see how Packers fair against Cardinals offense and defense. I think Cardinals are legit this year and will be better than the cheese heads.

The Zimmer/ Turner Era is coming Pack fans. Bridgewater is the next great QB. Enjoy what you have now because it is all going to slip away Lombardi Losers…

  25. tokyofilthblaster says: Aug 17, 2014 4:37 PM

They need to squeeze that era in before they all shoot each other over there.

  26. codythao35 says: Aug 17, 2014 7:31 PM

This guy will be cut before the regular season started.

    Bridgewater>all busted Packers roster.

  27. pack13queens0 says: Aug 18, 2014 8:33 PM

Another excellent pick from the best GM in the NFL Ted Thompson. Packers have the most complete team in the League, 19-0 could be realistic.

It’s nice to see such uplifting stories coming out of Titletown.

No shootings, lawsuits, DUI’s or drug suspensions. Just good, wholesome, championship level football.

    The Green Bay Packers.

    Exceptional football for exceptional people.
