Ravens corner Jimmy Smith leaves game with chest injury

Ravens cornerback Jimmy Smith left the game with blood in his mouth, but the injury in another part.

According to Clifton Brown of, Smith didn’t return after leaving in the first quarter with a chest injury. He was taken for X-rays, but returned to the sidelines in street clothes and appeared to be in good spirits.

The Ravens are struggling to keep cornerbacks on the field, with Lardarius Webb and Asa Jackson out with back and ankle injuries, respectively.

That has them down to Chykie Brown and Dominique Franks, and that’s a significant concern for the Ravens, even if Smith turns out to be OK.

Webb is a really strong Corner. Jackson and Smith are very good too. The fact all three are getting hit up with injuries is tough for the Ravens, because Brown, Franks and company come with a huge drop-off in performance.

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but it’s hard to not feel sorry for the Ravens.

I had a feeling that losing Corey Graham wasn’t going to be good. A good pass rush can help to hide a suspect secondary, but this secondary is looking as weak as the one Billick had in 2007 if Webb and Smith are dealing with nagging injuries all season.

Meanwhile, Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco remains in the game with a case of mediocrity.

Just kidding — he really started to look good once Dallas started playing their scrubs.

Stealer fans shouldn’t comment on any teams secondary. Yinz are gonna get lit up this year. Better hope baby Ben can produce 42 pts or more.

If Dez had stayed in the whole game, he would have had like a 1,000 yards. Owned the Ravens.
