NBCSN launches new show tonight

NBC Sports Group televises a wide variety of live sports, from the NFL to the NHL to the Premier League to the Olympics to golf to Triple Crown horse racing to Notre Dame Football to NASCAR, Formula One, and IndyCar racing.

Tonight, NBC Sports Group debuts a Sunday night recap of the various sports NBC Sports Group broadcasts.

It’s the NBCSN Sunday Sports Report, a weekly program that, during football season, will devote a large part of its focus to the NFL.  And since it’s almost football season and since I’m on my way to Connecticut to sit in for Dan Patrick this week, I’ll join host Liam McHugh in studio for a quick look at the biggest issues in the NFL.

The debut episode also will include an interview of four-time Olympic gold-medalist swimmer Missy Franklin (by Josh Elliott), commentary on the opening weekend of the Premier League from Rebecca Lowe, Robbie Earle, and Robbie Mustoe, and a look at the NASCAR Michigan 400 with Kyle Petty.

Future episodes, once the NFL regular season, will include extensive commentary and interviews from the site of the Sunday Night Football game, making it as a practical matter a post-postgame show.

The show airs at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN and the NBC Sports Live Extra app.  Tune in then and then dial up NBCSN on Monday morning at 9:00 a.m. ET for The Dan Patrick Show.

Innovative! A highlights show. Sounds like “The George Michael Sports Machine”.

Oh great. More Notre Dame hoopla. I get to hear more hype on their average football team. I do give them credit for catching themselves cheating……….again. Then we can watch their basketball team fall on their faces in the tournament. They are good in soccer and lax though so talk that up and forget the rest.

Is David Gregory going to be on?

I wonder if they’ll address whether or not the Redskins should change their name? I mean, if the show is to address “…the biggest issues in the NFL,” is there any other issue that even comes close to such a description? Clearly not to the guy who runs this site and will co-host the show…

I guess I won’t be listening to the DP show this week. Mike Horrible hosting a radio show is like Jon Gruden interviewing Johnny Manziel.

Ok so apparently the host doesn’t read PFT and know the “livin’ on a prayer” bit is about the most stale thing he could say to the guy from PFT, and he says “living” to boot, awkward but your charming reaction made for good TV!
