Ray Rice shoulder injury is nothing serious

Ravens running back Ray Rice suffered a shoulder injury and left Saturday night’s preseason game early, but the injury was minor.

The Ravens confirmed after the game that X-rays on Rice’s shoulder were negative.

It shouldn’t be anything too serious,” Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said of Rice’s injury.

Also injured was Ravens cornerback Jimmy Smith, but Harbaugh said, “He should be fine, too.”

The Ravens didn’t have Rice in their starting offense, as Bernard Pierce got the start instead. Rice, who is suspended for the first two games of the season, carried twice for 21 yards before exiting. Pierce had 55 yards on seven carries and backup Lorenzo Taliaferro had 59 yards on 16 carries.
