Jerod Mayo back at practice for Patriots

Jorvorskie Lane, Jerod Mayo AP

The Patriots never revealed why linebacker Jerod Mayo missed last week’s joint practices with the Eagles or the game against Philadelphia on Friday night, but it doesn’t appear to be anything with long-lasting ramifications for their defense.

ESPNBoston.com reports that Mayo was back at practice on Monday and took part in the team’s full-pads practice. Mayo missed the final 10 games of last season after tearing his pectoral muscle, but was a full participant in the team’s OTAs and at camp before missing last week’s work.

The Patriots got positive developments with other injured players on Monday as well. Tight end Michael Hoomanawanui and center Bryan Stork, both of whom have been out since late July with undisclosed injuries, were also back on the field as the team moves toward their third preseason game of the summer. In addition, rookie wide receiver Jeremy Gallon has been activated from the PUP list and practiced for the first time since the start of camp.

Throw in the first practices for newly acquired defensive linemen Jerel Worthy and Ben Bass and the Pats roster looks quite a bit fuller on Monday afternoon.

I would hate to be a jets fan this season.

Patriots look unstoppable on both sides of the ball.

Pats fans are certainly ready for another year of whining from other teams fans as they win the division again at the very least.

Roster looks good. Cant wait for billicheat to blow another game again by cheating and saying he didnt know the rules much like the last time they played the jets.

Was that the time when the Jet coaches started tripping everyone and got fined for cheating?

Belichick, noting how Denver and Manning struggled with a tough D, have truly stocked up on Defense.

Even without that strong D the Pats came from 40 down with a healthy Gronk to stop Denver – but after being decimated by injury could only make it to the AFC Title Game

I think everyone will agree the Jets are poised to remain tied with the Houston Oilers for Eastern Division titles once again.

Not sure what the Jets did to deserve such bad luck (they must have cheated REALLY bad to have the bad karma of not making to a Super Bowl since before Man walked on the Moon)

Callt he AFC east the weakest division infootball, you’re right. You still cant ignore that the patriots beat quality teams every single year in the regular season and definitely win in the playoffs.

Remember when the Jets were caught taping the Pats in the 2006 playoffs in Foxboro and the league didn’t do anything about it because the commish used to work for them? that was awesome…

In a trade that worked for both teams. The Patriots got Jerod Mayo and the 49ers got Joe Staley.

That’s if the Ravens make the playoffs this yr…a big if, after going 8-8.

Yes, it worked out well for both teams, but the Pats also got Randy Moss with the extra pick from the 49ers.

That would mean you’re saying the Pats will have a better record than your team that probably won’t make the playoffs anyways.

I see people saying cheaters, please tell me what the patriots did?
