One of Colts owner Jim Irsay’s attorneys filed a motion Monday to push back his trial on charges of operating while intoxicated, which is scheduled for Aug. 28.
According to the Indianapolis Star, attorney Bruce Boje declined to comment.
Irsay was charged after being stopped in March while driving erratically. According to a police report, he struggled with standing heel to toe, and two officers “continuously had to support Irsay in order to prevent him from falling over.”
Prosecutors say he had “oxycodone and/or hydrocodone,” and Irsay has admitted previous dependence on prescription pain-killers. He was also traveling with more than $29,000 in cash.
The league has been extremely quiet on the issue, particularly in light of a number of other high-profile drug charges involving players.
And if Irsay’s trial gets pushed back, they’ll likely stay quiet as long as they can.
