Broncos running back Montee Ball has been out the last two weeks after having an appendectomy, but he’s hoping his convalescence comes to an end on Monday.

Ball will visit a doctor in hopes of getting cleared to return to practice. Mike Klis of the Denver Post reports that the Broncos may not expose Ball to contact in practice even if he does get the green light to return to work and that his status for this week’s game against the Texans would also be up in the air until later in the week.

“I’m excited to come back and get back to it. It’s all about lathering up,” Ball said. “You need to get that lather, man. That’s important. Get back used to getting tackled, getting hit.”

While it would be nice to get that lather up against Houston, the most important thing for the Broncos is that getting cleared on Monday would keep Ball on track to be in the lineup for the start of the regular season.
