The wheels on the Patriots’ tight end depth chart go ‘round and ‘round.
The Patriots have re-signed rookie tight end Justin Jones, whom they waived eight days ago, the club said Monday.
Jones (6-8, 277) played 32 snaps on offense in the Patriots’ preseason opening loss to Washington on August 7. He was targeted once in the passing game.
Jones’ addition gives the Patriots five tight ends, with Rob Gronkowski, Michael Hoomanawanui, D.J. Williams and Steve Maneri the others.
To make room for Jones, the Pats waived rookie long-snapper Tyler Ott.
