Report: Darnell Dockett suffered torn ACL today

Darnell Dockett AP

The news on Cardinals defensive tackle Darnell Dockett’s knee injury today was not good.

According to Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports, the Cardinals believe Dockett suffered a torn ACL and will be lost for the season.

That’s obviously a huge blow to the Cardinals defense, which lost linebacker Karlos Dansby in free agency, and will be without suspended linebacker Daryl Washington and can’t be sure when they’ll get safety Tyrann Mathieu back from injury.

Cardinals coach Bruce Arians has done a masterful job there, but the job just keeps getting tougher and tougher.

Maybe if you would stop worrying about the REDSKINS name, you could get a headline right!!!!

Ok, now prediction falls to 5-11.

Season was over before DD got injured. Dansby was a huge loss in free agency. Seahawks can sleepwalk to the division title now.

  6. dfwhawkguy says: Aug 18, 2014 9:06 PM

Well, at least the Santa Clara 49’ers may be able to score a TD this season after all…

Blow for the Cards #1 run defense. #NextManUp Ed Stinson

Sorry Darnell. Once you get to feeling better you should Tweet up A.J. McCarron’s GF & see if she wants to go to Wingstop, then maybe to the Gold Club

  9. realitycheckbaby says: Aug 18, 2014 9:18 PM

    Too bad. Good luck.

As a Seahawk’s fan, that really sucks. We were looking forward to having the Cardinals overtake the 49ers this year, but with all the loses on D, that’s going to be tough.

  11. codythao35 says: Aug 18, 2014 9:20 PM

That’s too bad. I see them being legit this year but without him who knows, maybe 3rd on the NFC west. 8-8 at best.

  12. kingpel says: Aug 18, 2014 9:31 PM

    Hate to see that.

  13. 49erfan44 says: Aug 18, 2014 9:37 PM

Don’t care what team it is, never like to see this. He’s a stud.

    HTTREDSKINS!!!

  16. We, the Steelers, support the immediate relocation of the Bills, Raiders, Vikings, Jaguars, Buccaneers, Rams, Ravens, Chargers, Colts, and Cardinals. Their current cities are an embarrassment to the NFL and the game Pittsburgh invented. #6 says: Aug 18, 2014 9:54 PM

    So, about that elite defense…

  17. ugadogs21 says: Aug 18, 2014 10:03 PM

Never want to see a guy get hurt and I hope he has a speedy recovery but they will get by and there will be at least 3 fewer distractions over the course of the season.

Wow another tough loss for the Cards.

  21. seahawkswilson says: Aug 18, 2014 10:21 PM

With AZ’s recent issues and Krapperdick / SC 49ers looking below average this division is shaping up a lot easier for the Hawks to repeat as Champs.

Niner fan but man this sucks – heck of a player and hilarious in interviews. NFC West just lost one of its toughest guys.

Hope you get back on the field soon Mr Dockett, sorry to hear Cards fans.

  25. 4d9erdynasty says: Aug 18, 2014 10:55 PM

Tough blow, that is too bad. Hate to see great players go down like that. Any player is one play away from a season ender. Hope he makes a full recovery.

  26. seatownballers says: Aug 18, 2014 11:02 PM

Lost Danby, Washington, docket. This is not the same defense

    jdog5428-

If you believe the cardinals finish 5-11 youre blind. the defense is still stacked and the offense will be great this year

  28. hakunamangata says: Aug 18, 2014 11:37 PM

Super Bowl site curse is real…just ask the jets and giants last year, or the saints the year before, or the cowboys before that….and the list goes on

Darnell is different but much loved in Arizona. I wish him well. I fear at his age this maybe the end of his career. You can say what you want about him but he gave his heart and soul to the Cardinals. We will miss him.

  34. dino2997 says: Aug 19, 2014 1:45 AM

Knee injury? C’mon Darnell, tough it out. Your team needs you.

Obviously I’m talking in jest but there is such a thing as karma.

  35. raidersownyou says: Aug 19, 2014 1:59 AM

That stinks, horrible way to end your season before it even begins. Get well soon Darnell!

  36. goldrush36 says: Aug 19, 2014 2:25 AM

ACL’s aren’t as awful what they used to be but Dockett is no spring chicken either. Hope he makes a full recovery and we see him on the field in 2015

  37. duncanthecat says: Aug 19, 2014 5:14 AM

Dude gets what he deserves for having a history of spitting on others.

  38. beastmode5150 says: Aug 19, 2014 7:28 AM

Karma for trying to choke Hasselbeck years ago. Go hawks.

  39. karmaisabeeyatch says: Aug 19, 2014 5:16 PM

    Quitter

  40. karmaisabeeyatch says: Aug 19, 2014 5:19 PM

Did he look his teammates in the eye when he decided to quit on them? I doubt it.
