With Darnell Dockett out, Cardinals taking a look at Brett Keisel

There’s not a like-for-like replacement for injured defensive tackle Darnell Dockett at the moment, but the Cardinals are at least looking into someone they know well.

According to Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic, the Cardinals are bringing in longtime Steelers defensive end Brett Keisel for a physical today.

Keisel would lend some gravity to a defense that has taken a number of hits this offseason.

The Cards still like what Frostee Rucker offers, and he’d likely take the snaps which Dockett was going to take. But Keisel has been a solid player, and one that coach Bruce Arians is well-familiar with.

    Pittsburgh West strikes again?
C’mon Cards, this is getting ridiculous. Why dont you just sign Hines Ward, James Harrison and since you need a DT, Mean Joe Greene.

I was really hoping he would remain available for Pit as an emergency back-up in case someone goes down. Either way, helluva career for a seventh round pick who was nearly cut his first season!

Funny how they would bring in players that Arians already knows right? Its not all that ridiculous if you actually put some thought into it.

If you know the scheme you can adjust quicker to missing time in camp and in preseason action. It just makes sense.

good luck to the beard. He would not take the minimum to re sign with Steelers, and now they found young guys that will take his place. Interesting to see what he signs for with Cards.

Ken Whisenhunt, Bruce Arians, Russ Grimm, Ray Horton, Jon Dwyer, Larry Foote, Max Starks, Joey Porter, Reshard Mendenhall, Deshea Townsend, Nick Eason, Clark Haggans, Crezdon Butler…

This is just off the top of my head, who else am I missing?

Mcbeam william gay also had a stunt in AZ. LSH went from pitt in college then drafted by the cards then to the steelers. And the cards have take many many steelers assistant coaches and strength coaches like zierlein

The physical examination determined that Keisel was a middle aged male, probably from the mid Pleistocene era, or perhaps later Neanderthal.

As a life-long Steeler fan who has moved west, the whole Arizona thing is ironic for me personally. For one, my dad, uncle, and most of my other relatives have relocated to AZ from PA in the last 10 years, just like many Steelers seem to do. Secondly, my last name happens to be Stiller. I was born to be a Steeler fan and I can’t help it! :)

Ok people are hung up if players being “Steelers”. So do you go with the person you know or the one you don’t? Second everyone keeps saying how good the Steelers were or are but then you rip the Cards when a Steeler comes in. Don’t you know this happens with Coaches all the time. It’s a standard in all sports. Get over it. I don’t care if he comes from your moms butt as long as he can get the job done!

Johnny Jolly was alright last year in base defense, a good run stuffing 3-4 DE.

Ryan Pickett could play Nose Tackle or DE in base Defense.

…but let’s go solely after Steeler rejects.
