Jadeveon Clowney finishes practice early after trip to medical tent

Jadeveon Clowney AP

Texans linebacker Jadeveon Clowney didn’t impress Falcons running back Antone Smith when he buried Smith in the backfield during last weekend’s preseason game, but he’s impressed most other people with his first couple of performances in the NFL.

He impressed the Broncos during Tuesday’s joint practice with Houston as well, but Wednesday didn’t go as well for the first overall pick. Lindsay Jones of USA Today reports that Clowney left the session during 9-on-7 drills and went to the medical tent. Per Jones, Clowney “was walking OK, but looked uncomfortable” on his way to get checked out by the doctors.

Clowney didn’t return to practice after heading to the tent and Jones reports that he took off his shoulder pads so trainers could have a look at the left side of his neck.

We’ll have to wait to get a more detailed update on Clowney’s condition, but it seems a safe bet that the Texans will take every precaution necessary to make sure that their first-round pick is clear of any concerns before he returns to the field.

    Bust.

But he’ll still be a dynamic playmaker with a burst that gets him past defenders that forget to block him, right?

    Get used to this, Houston.

Denvers’ altitude could be a issue for Clowney when doing strenuous activity?Maybe?

Did you see Clowney tear Sam Bakers Knee with his BullRush? This kid is a beast and will be the best player from this draft.

Clowney reminds me of one of those old V-12 Jaguars (the car, not the team). When everything’s working right there is nothing better… it’s just that it doesn’t happen very often.

LOL this guy is so unbelievably soft.

You think defensive rookie of the year Sheldon Richardson would be doing this?

Strange…From what I read about Tuesday’s practice with the Broncos it was stated that he got handled with relative ease by Ryan Clady. And it also sounded like Chris Clark took care of Watt on the other side

Clowney is going to be a great player if he can stay healthy and motivated.

I’d be a little hyper-sensitive to any bad Clowney news right now if I were a Texans fan. I doubt this is a big deal, though.

These trolling Clowney commeners need to face reality. Clowney is going to be All-Pro for a decade.

So many haters out there. It’s really sad. All these haters hoping for players to bust, so there miserable lives seem a little less miserable, is just pathetic. If you can’t see this guy has the potential to be great then you haven’t watched him play.

Sounds like a stinger. These happen multiple times everyday, some not too bad some worse. I think he’ll be fine.

So did alot of players in this practice. It’s very hot out. Love how the media baits everyone and most of you fall for it and don’t rationalize before commenting.

Well, NFL Insiders had an update, Clowney had a helmet to helmet collision. So many idiotic comments here.

Clowney All-Pro for a Decade? Sounds like you could have just said he’ll be on the All-Decade team.

  20. houfan777 says: Aug 20, 2014 4:28 PM

Oh and to any of you who think Clowney was unblocked for a tackle for loss in the Falcons game needs to be enlightened. No self respecting coach or QB would let Clowney be unblocked. And it was pretty obvious he was going to rush, no hidden play. It was the “Fold” technique that they tried to use on Clowney. Just look for a article called “Tales of the Tape preseason game 2″ or something like that.

Yea it actually sounds like he met Jacob tamme…

He’s in Colorado. Let him medicate the natural way!

Clowney showed he can be a beast against the Falcons. The Falcons should have traded up and got that guy no matter what the cost.
