Adrian Peterson misses a pair of practices

The Vikings don’t plan to use running back Adrian Peterson much, if at all, during the preseason.  For the past two days, they haven’t used him at all during practice.

According to Matt Vensel of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Peterson has missed practice the last two days due to an undisclosed personal matter.  He is expected to travel to Kansas City with the Vikings for the team’s third preseason game of 2014.

Peterson hasn’t touched the football during the preseason since 2011, when he had 14 carries for 81 yards during the third preseason game, against the Cowboys.

This year, the Vikings have their first new offense since 2011.  It could take some time for Peterson to get comfortable in the attack, given the absence of preseason reps.

His age has nothing to do with it. Adrian Peterson will be playing at a pro bowl level until he is 47. You can take that to the bank.

Doesn’t matter. Last place with him. Last place without him. History doesn’t lie.

AD is always ready to play. Turners offense is humming right now without him. Can’t wait to see it with him. Top 5 scoring offense. Book it!

He can retire now and he’d be a first ballot HOFer…FACT!

Nothing to do with age/being ‘soft’. Guaranteed you guys calling him soft weigh 300lbs, and are sitting in your mom’s basement eating Doritos. Morons.

He’ll show you clowns what he’s made of comes regular season. He’s what the Packer trolls will ever dream of. Best running back in NFL history home boy!!!

I’m so sick of packer fans trolling on every article on this site. Ap is as soft as the 49ers. You know who they are. The team that beats you like a drum every season and sometimes twice a season! Hey you make the playoffs but always lose. Your soft team let a qb run almost 200yards on you in national televised game. So keep trolling as your window is closing and our dynasty is just beginning Skol vikings

No ring for Peterson till he goes to Seattle

  16. veence69 says: Aug 21, 2014 9:27 PM

Yeah, doubt this man.. then remain conspicuously silent when he puts 180 yards and 3 TD’s on your squad.

AP is clearly tired of wasting his time with a perennial loser! It’s a shame he never escaped that dump to play on a real NFL team. Yet another first ballot HOFer going in without a ring. What a waste of a career!

No preseason carries since 2011? Let’s see, what did he do in 2012? Oh yeah, 2,097 yards rushing. He did get off to a slow start, though.

And in 2013 his first carry of the regular season went 78 yards.

Meanwhile, LeSean McCoy is having his thumb X-rayed. I guess I’m okay with holding him out until Week 1.

Guy has the best job in the NFL. He only goes to work 16 times a year if he’s completely healthy.

    No pre-season games.
    No post-season games (obviously).

    Pretty gravy gig.

Peterson hasn’t been able to answer the final bell in 2 of the last 3 years. Does anyone really think he’ll make it through this year?

  28. danhill1981 says: Aug 23, 2014 2:08 PM

I think its funny how people can call AP “soft”
He is one of the best conditioned athletes in the NFL and takes better care of his body than anyone!!
I cant wait to see what he does in this new offense!!

  29. pftcoachmen says: Aug 26, 2014 6:02 PM

“Hey, there’s nothing wrong with calling him soft.”

Says the person wth the video game controller in hand.

AP will crush dickersons record this year. The vikings are running the same explosive offense Cleveland ran last year. With Patterson as Gordon, Rudolph as Cameron. And Ap will be the difference.
