X-rays negative on LeSean McCoy’s thumb

A sprain, not a break.

That’s the word on tailback LeSean McCoy’s right thumb.

According to the Eagles, X-rays on McCoy’s thumb came back negative, and he has been ruled out of the rest of Thursday’s exhibition against Pittsburgh.

Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports the injury is a sprain.

McCoy racked up 24 yards rushing on just four carries and caught a 22-yard TD pass in the first quarter before departing to get his thumb examined. He does not figure to play much, if at all, in the team’s final preseason game next Thursday.

The Eagles begin the regular season on Sunday, September 7 vs. Jacksonville.

Philadelphia looks really good. I’m starting to think they’re going to run away with the NFC-East. All the other teams in that division seem to have too many question marks…

This dude is giving me one hell of a lot of scares considering it’s just preseason.

You see I kept him as one of my keepers. I could give two rat tails about the Eagles. I just want him to succeed.

    Horrible isn’t it?

Osi still has two more rings.

    Nevertheless, he learned his lesson.

The X-rays were also negative if the steelers have a team this year!

The NFC is so much better than the AFC IMO. You could argue there are 4 very good teams in the ncf(hawks, niners, saints, packers) compared to only 2 very good teams in the afc(broncos, pats). Even the next tier down the nfc(eagles, bears, panthers) is IMO way better than the afc(chargers,colts,ravens/bengals).

Philly didn’t need him tonight. Eagles had 35 first downs against the Steelers starting D! Holy cow, Steelers 4-12 this year.

I wouldn’t even play him at Jacksonville. They’ll beat themselves.

McCoy doesn’t always run with the ball tucked tight against his body like he should, and having a messed up thumb could prove costly if he coughs up a fumble or 2 because of it. For the most part, LeSean has done a tremendous job at avoiding injuries thus far in his career, and let’s hope that trend continues. Having some very capable backups should help Shady stay healthy and fresh, and when defenses are getting worn out late in games, a LeSean McCoy with fresh legs is going to make people look silly…on his way to pay-dirt.

I think it’s safe to say he took his final preseason carry of his career.

I don’t see where the injury occurred, nobody even touched him, HA.

The Eagles can’t loose McCoy although they have many good running backs.

Need to stay healthy cause he is your entire offense. Speaking of Eagles, i decided to date an Eagles fan chick cause i know she ain’t looking for a ring.

This injury could have caused a mass shake up in fantasy play.

Revis already wants a new contract saying that preseason is time he wants to be paid for now.

This seems like more of a case where he just didn’t want to play anymore

Birds are looking great….I was very pleased how the offense played last night….defense played well too….good things to come this year

That’s good news… did anyone else’s heart sink when Macklin went down? As a non Eagles’ fan I immediately thought the worse for the guy and was pretty much wondering “can’t this dude catch a break.” Really glad he is OK too.

Foles looked just a hair off on some of his throws, which can be attributed to alot of things, not the least of which was this was his first situation with all of his receivers. Sanchez looked deadly accurate. The defense looked a little less than adequate. I really want to see more of Sanchez. Frankly I think it was more the Steelers being totally out of sink than the defense playing well.
