Giants guard Geoff Schwartz carted off with dislocated toe

Geoff Schwartz AP

The Giants made an early push in free agency to land guard Geoff Schwartz from Kansas City, but he wasn’t able to make it through the preseason without being carted off the field.

Schwartz left the game in the first half, and Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports reports that he suffered a dislocated toe. Trainers were working on his right foot, and he couldn’t put any weight on it before he was loaded onto the cart.

A powerful run blocker, Schwartz would be a tough loss if he’s out a significant amount of time.

And the way the Giants are playing on offense (despite a touchdown just before halftime), it’s a loss they can ill afford.

    Panther fan here… Great player, but he seems to get beat up a lot. Hope he has a long and productive career in NY.

    Kind of ironic he goes out and richburg comes in and their offense has its first sign of life all pre season. I swear as a Giants fan this coaching staff really makes you wonder some times about its decisions. This kid should have been starting all preseason.

    May the Schwartz be with him.

    What a wuss. The toe is so far away from the brain, how could it hurt so much. Suck it up cupcake; Eli needs to be upright in order to break his interception record.

    Yep. Chiefs were sure stupid to let him go. Way to overpay an average interior lineman Big Blue. Whose laughing now?

    Schwartz needs to be moved to RT behind Pugh.

    Schwartz = garbage

    Eli Manning on an 11-play, 91-yard 1:48 drive for a touchdown right after Schwartz goes down. Coincidence?

    At least he did not have to suffer in the OBSOLETE offense that the NJ giants copied from the 2010 Philadelphia Eagles. The NJ team is crumbling before your very eyes. Do you really think they are going to revive this OBSOLETE offense? They don’t even have the necessary players to run this 2010 Andy Reid offense. The Philadelphia Eagles are going to be 11-3 against the NJ giants after this season is over.

    Have Rex take a look at it.
