Drew Brees goes for 128 yards, 2 TDs in less than a quarter

drewbrees AP

Drew Brees played less than a quarter of the Saints’ third preseason game. But he made his limited playing time count.

Tonight against the Colts, Brees and the Saints’ offense ran wild: Brees completed nine of 15 passes for 128 yards, with two touchdowns and no interceptions. That was all Saints coach Sean Payton needed to see from his starting quarterback, and Luke McCown entered the game for the Saints late in the first quarter.

That part of the first quarter was all Brees has played in this preseason. Brees has been nursing a strained oblique, and the Saints held him out of the first two preseason games. He is not expected to play in the Saints’ fourth preseason game on Thursday.

So tonight’s 15 passes were all we’re getting out of Brees in the preseason. With those 15 passes, he did plenty.

Even though not a fan of the Saints team, I am a fan of Brees….good family man, seems like a great guy, doesn’t try to change the NFL rules to fit his agenda every season, and is an elite qb. Can’t ask for much more.

    But the Colts have TrentvRichardson.

Number one fantasy football pick. Guaranteed points, even better if defense is sloppy or gets picks, and one of those two things will happen for the Saints D.

I respect the Colt’s offense. They look strong. Good speed, good QB. Their o-line, however, is very shaky. They obviously built that team to win by offense, which is good if you have Luck, but not with that o-line.

Their D is going to be awful this year. Just awful.

Put it all together, and you spell the word “overrated.”

He had some rust but he honed in quick. That’s what elite QB’s do he is one of the best ever we should all just expect him to do this but it’s still amazing a guy can just step in be off for a couple if throws then just adjust and go off. Every time I see him play I just think what in the world was SD thinking?

saw a bit of that game. yep brees is great, and yep the saints defense are still dirty cheap shot artists

    Saints haters neeeeeed an explanation.

So many Saints players stood out. Thomas did what he has done for so long. Brees was extraordinary in one quarter as he was during the week of practice. With Byrd patrolling the center, Vacarro can roam and go everywhere.

Was glad to see improvement and Brees back on the field.

Next game is a chance for the Saints to set an all-time record for them…. 4 – 0 in the pre-season!

Not being a homer but I think dem Saints have a VERY GOOD chance of being the #1 seed in the NFC. I think the NFC West will beat up on each other and the NFC East probably won’t get it. That leaves the NFC North as the other possibility. Like I said, I like our chances of getting that #1 seed. If that happens, can you say trip to Superbowl XLIX?

Saints will be very hard to stop this year.

  23. winningitall2014 says: Aug 24, 2014 11:56 AM

Oh yah.. about the vikings..only promise they’ve had since farve retired is adianne …i think the vikes should concentrate on beating green bay, chicago, detroit..the vikes are easily a 4th place team behind all those teams in theyre on division! Once they’ve conquered those demons than you can talk about the slim possibility on beating the saints…nice to dream though…..

The vikings fans have championship envy. Poor lil guys, never won a championship and with the trash team they are fielding this year, no hope for one anytime soon!
