Falcons make, give up big plays through the air against Titans

The Falcons passing attack looked just fine on Saturday night against the Titans, something that’s sure to warm the hearts of Falcons fans.

They’ll probably be less happy about the fact that the Titans put up some big plays of their own through the air. Jake Locker finished his night with 12 completions in 18 tries for 188 yards and a 63-yard touchdown pass to Nate Washington. Locker’s numbers are all the more impressive because he wasn’t getting help from the ground game or an offensive line that allowed two sacks to go with plenty of other pressure.

Locker won’t be on the list of problems for the Titans to address this week, but the secondary will be. Devin Hester ran through it on a 31-yard touchdown and Julio Jones showed his surgically repaired foot is just fine by sprinting for a 52-yard score in the first half. Matt Ryan threw both touchdowns and was 18-of-23 for 224 yards overall in a very productive evening’s work.

Both teams have one more preseason game left to play and if either is going to give any of their starters work on Thursday, it will likely be their defensive backs.
