The Lions have started paring their roster to the 75-player limit.

The club has placed rookie wide receiver T.J. Jones on the reserve/physically unable to perform list, Tim Twentyman of DetroitLions.com reported Saturday.

A sixth-round pick from Notre Dame, Jones had offseason shoulder surgery. He will miss at least the first six regular season games.

In other roster moves Saturday, the Lions released offensive guard Alex Bullard, offensive guard A.J. Dalton, defensive tackle Greg Hickman, tailback Steven Miller, defensive end Kris Redding and wide receiver Conner Vernon, according to Twentyman.

This leaves the Lions with 82 players. Detroit has until Tuesday afternoon to get its roster down to 75 players.

  1. No surprises here since the Lions have an interesting RB in George Winn that made Miller expendable. Everybody in Detroit assumed T.J. Jones would be going on PUP due to the massive depth we have at WR. There’s going to be some tough cuts to consider at that position as well as the DL and I have no idea what’s going to happen in the Secondary!

  2. There are quite a few players that are scary to expose to the waiver wire this year. Not that other teams aren’t in the same boat, but it’s a rarity for Lions fans to see.

  3. Packers have owned the Lions for years, and being a Lions fan with many relatives in Wisconsin and Iowa cheering on Packers, I at least respect the team that beats us at will……..but still hate the bragging rights of family…..I see a lot of easy cuts for the Lions, but that’s just me. Be real before you show in public that your comment was gonna make you look silly…………GO LIONS, looks like another 8-8 season but will watch every game and hope its better than 8-8

  4. I’m sure Packers will pick couple of them up. Does the name A.J and Greg sound familiar? That’s right A.J. Dalton is A.J Hawk and Greg Hickman is Greg Jennings to the Packers. LOL!!!
