Getty ImagesRams quarterback Sam Bradford’s top priority for the preseason was to get through it without getting hurt. Which makes the news out of the Rams’ preseason game this evening very bad.
Bradford exited the game against the Browns with a leg injury, and on the sideline the team’s medical staff appeared to be examining his left knee. That’s the same knee that he had surgically reconstructed after a season-ending torn ACL last year.
The knock on Bradford has always been that he can’t stay healthy, and the Rams desperately need this to be the year that he proves that wrong. Another serious injury would be a disaster for Bradford and for the Rams.
Bradford was replaced by veteran backup Shaun Hill. The Rams hope Hill will just be a short-term replacement, and that Bradford will be back when the real games start.
Sam Bradford injured? No way! I never saw that one coming!
Brian Schottenheimer: “Phew! Now I’ll have another excuse.”
Ermergerd . . .Brerdferd herters lerg!
Praying that it’s not serious.
Oh god no
Anyone shocked?

Ouch..hope it’s not a serious injury. Lucky for them…Shaun Hill is more than capable of holding down the fort.
The Browns D can’t get off the field no matter who is QB for the Rams.
The bad “tell”: The look of disbelief on Bradford’s face as the rolled around on the ground.
The good “tell”: Walking to the locker room under his own power.
In better news for the Rams, it looks like Kenny Britt is actually putting forth effort on a football field for the first time since 2011. Congrats, Rams fans. Maybe Fisher is the only one who knows how to motivate him.

Shaun Hill is pretty good.
Done
Wow
Well he had a great college career he can be proud of. Tough break.(no pun intended)
Brittle Bradford. Last of the silly rookie contracts.
Good luck from a Pack fan. Hate to see this, especially in the preseason.
How terrible is the network, they haven’t showed the replay where Bradford got hurt! Geez people it’s 2014 there has to be a camera on the QB!!!
Mr. Glass is back.
I feel bad for him .( signed a browns fan) i hope he is ok
Typical.
Go Hawks!
Jameis Winston will look good in the Horns.
And someone is surprised by this?
Ponder is available, from what I understand…cheap.
Bust
We will give you Clemens back for a first and a second.
Bail them out Shaun and save the day!
Time to cut bait…….
Terrible news. I hope he’s ok. I always feel for “injury prone” players. It’s gotta be so frustrating to have that kind of talent for something but your body just won’t cooperate.
I thought the knock on him was that he isn’t very good?….but hope he recovers soon and well.
You can do worse than having to fall back onto Hill. No star there, but not a guy to lose games for you either.
Stafford is better.
*Sad trombone*
♪Wah, wah, waaaaaaaaaaa ♪
Doesn’t sound good so far. Feel bad for him
Christian Ponder, soon to be a Ram.
“The good “tell”: Walking to the locker room under his own power.”
You can walk all day with a torn ACL.
This guy cant take a break. I dont think hes played 16 games.
Talented guy but so far his NFL career hasnt been pretty. If its a serious injury, I doubt he’ll be Ram in the future. I see him becoming a clipboard QB
As a 49er fan, I want all the West teams to have their best players on the field. That being said, living in Austin, I would like to see more Gilbert.
I believe he will end up as a pretty good QB.
Whenever I hear people say “don’t sleep on the Rams” I play the Bradford card. This guy is singlehandedly the biggest detriment to the Rams chances of being a legitimate playoff threat, always hurt and when he’s on the field his game is still average at best.
This guy makes Geno Smith look like a Hall of Famer
This is a joke right? There is no way this dude can be hurt again. I hope it is just a bruise or something but good grief. He is not that good a QB to keep giving him chances St. Louis. Many felt they should have drafted a QB this year. Crazy.
Vikings win opener at the Rams.
Get. Me. TEBOW!
Guy was lighting up clevelands defense. Great talent but he just cant stay healthy.
Call me stupid, but a trade for RGIII might actually make sense. Skins go with Cousins as their QB and then the Rams give up one of their defensive linemen. How ironic would it be if he ended up in Saint Louis? I know, not gonna happen, but it does make some sense.
I swear you couldn’t make this up. Saffold also injured. Johnston knee injury looks bad (and was by his own player). We won’t 5 games this yr.
BTW…will somebody shoot Bradford. Put him out of his misery
Sanchez will be a Ram…
And then there were three.
Makes sense to idiots like you gargamels. No acl tear he should be ok
Mr. Warner, it’s the Rams on line one…
Injury prone. Won’t start 3 games this year.
I hear Vince Young is available.
Christian Ponder will make the Vikings 53 man roster.
But he won’t be there for long. Week 2 trade, after the Rams open the season against Minnesota.
Sanchez will not be a Ram. The Rams are plain stupid fit wasting this much time with a average QB. Johnny Football would have been a nice fit.
I wonder whose more durable, Sam Bradford or Ryan Reynolds.
Wow, we’d say that was typical but that would be extremely redundant. What a fragile piece of crap.
And with that, the Rams start thinking about the QB in the 2015 draft.
Man this guy cant catch a break. I really thought he looked good before he got hurt last year. Now he may have a weapon and he is banged up. bummer
Lucky dude… got $50 in guaranteed money in the last draft class who were able to sign those obscene contracts without having proven anything. You can smell the irony.
I still think the Vikes GM trades Cassell for a 1 and a 4 and starts Bridgewater and keeps Ponder for insurance. Rams, Texans, Oakland all can use a decent QB right now.
Christian Ponder will make the Vikings 53 man roster.
But he won’t be there for long. Week 2 trade, after the Rams open the season against Minnesota.
—————————————————
I got the GM dumping Cassell and keeping Ponder for a 1 and 4 pick. Bridgewater easily outplayed Cassell in pre season. He is ready to go.
Hey maybe Matt Flynn? No, no one wants Matt Flynn except the stupid packers. I have the Packers at 7-9 this year missing the playoffs with Detroit and Vikes getting in.
Should have drafted Manziel or RG3
Well, at least the Rams picked the right Sam this year. As in Mike Sam! Tired of all the haters saying he’s just a seventh rounder “Bust” because of his performance in the underwear Olympics! The most overrated job interview on the planet! His back is to stiff, not strong enough, not fast enough, arms are to short, his 40 sucked, he’s a Tweener! And winning the SEC Defensive player of the year was just a farce! Or Maybe, just maybe he’s a guy who’s just can play a Football? Maybe he’s not a track and field guy? Me personally, I want football players not a Track & Field stars! If he can get on that line in passing situations? He’s good for 8 to 11 Sacks easy!!
No worries (except salary cap-wise), Shaun Hill is better anyway.
Bradford now closes the race against Jake Locker to the prize of most injury-prone QB
St. Louis should trade for Washington QB, but not for RG3, but the other one.
Injured a lot, but the guy is a stud when healthy.
Oh wait, I’m thinking of someone else.
This was not a violent hit. If this kind of contact was gonna cause re-injury, I’m glad it happened now. At least hill will get 2 weeks of taking snaps w/ the 1’s before the season starts. 5-11
Ryan Mallett??
Sign Kyle Orton. Seriously!
Just spray some Windex on that glass knee and he will be fine…
Get me Brady Quinn
Is this article from last year? Or maybe the year before? …2011??
I’m confused.
Sanchize is BACK !!!
st louis is betting on the wrong horse. bradford is NOT the guy. they need to cut bait and move on. if an nfl team gets the QB position wrong, they will be bad and nothing else matters.
Its one thing to stand by your quarterback, but not securing an adequate back up after so many years is too reckless.
Darren McFadden and Bradford have bones made of Doritos chips
If this was his year to prove himself I think he just did. He just proved he’ll never be able to prove himself.
