Sam Bradford exits with leg injury

Getty Images

Rams quarterback Sam Bradford’s top priority for the preseason was to get through it without getting hurt. Which makes the news out of the Rams’ preseason game this evening very bad.

Bradford exited the game against the Browns with a leg injury, and on the sideline the team’s medical staff appeared to be examining his left knee. That’s the same knee that he had surgically reconstructed after a season-ending torn ACL last year.

The knock on Bradford has always been that he can’t stay healthy, and the Rams desperately need this to be the year that he proves that wrong. Another serious injury would be a disaster for Bradford and for the Rams.

Bradford was replaced by veteran backup Shaun Hill. The Rams hope Hill will just be a short-term replacement, and that Bradford will be back when the real games start.

The bad “tell”: The look of disbelief on Bradford’s face as the rolled around on the ground.

The good “tell”: Walking to the locker room under his own power.

In better news for the Rams, it looks like Kenny Britt is actually putting forth effort on a football field for the first time since 2011. Congrats, Rams fans. Maybe Fisher is the only one who knows how to motivate him.
