Panthers cut speedster Tiquan Underwood

At least it wasn’t the night before the Super Bowl this time.

But the fact he couldn’t make a no-name Panthers wide receiving corps is an even worse omen for Tiquan Underwood’s career.

According to Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun, the Panthers are including Underwood in their first round of cuts.

The Panthers were hoping he could add some speed on a budget, but he never caught the ball consistently in training camp, and didn’t make many plays in the preseason to make them keep him.

The Panthers started from scratch at the position this offseason, and rookie Kelvin Benjamin’s playing well, even though they haven’t gotten much from Jerricho Cotchery and Jason Avant this preseason.

This dude has hands of absolute stone. Been that way since the Jags drafted him. Sad, though… He quick.

There’s always a spot in the AFL for a guy like this

The Pats told Underwood he would not be in the Super Bowl when he was re-signed the last time before it, not the day before the Super Bowl. Stop making out like it was a surprise that he didn’t expect to happen.

    He’ll get picked up

I’m sure his agent will be able to drum up some interest in a 6′ 5″ WR (counting his hair)

We called him High-Top in Tampa…nice guy if you ever talk to him….but just wasn’t consistent.

Years ago, the Falcons tried to make Jim Hines a WR. As one scout accurately put it, 10 flat speed and 12 flat hands.

Not a surprise by any means.

Should have tried cutting his hair first…

Hate it but no surprise either. During training camp too many reports on him dropping passes.

Think how fast he’d be without all that extra wind resistance.

Tiquan Underwood was never consistent in preseason, but in the regular season he went through a period where he was pretty good as a #3 (in Tampa).

Nice guy and I wish him well if he continues to play in the NFL.

How does he fit a helmet on his head?

He’d be a number one receiver in Philly…

Wonder if that hair style help prevent concussions.

At least no one wasted a #7 overall on this guy just because he is really fast.
