The Colts reached the 75-man roster limit today by taking four injured players off the active roster.
Running backs Vick Ballard and Deji Karim and offensive tackle Ulrick John were all placed on injured reserve and will miss the season. Fullback Stanley Havili was put on the physically unable to perform list and will miss at least six games.
Ballard opened the 2013 season as the Colts’ starting running back, but he suffered a season-ending injury in Week One. Now he’ll miss 16 more games after missing 15 last year.
Karim was signed this month in the hopes that he could bolster the offense as well as the special teams, but he’ll miss the year too.
John was a seventh-round pick in this year’s NFL draft. Havili gave the Colts solid production at fullback and on special teams last year.
