Frustration growing as Giants offense is slow to get going

The Giants offense has given plenty people plenty of reason to yell at new coordinator Ben McAdoo.

But now McAdoo is doing some yelling of his own.

According to Stephen Lorenzo of the New York Daily News, McAdoo was barking at his offense in practice, demanding sharper performance than they’ve turned in so far.

You want everything done precisely, so we’re still, every day, we’re trying to get better at that,” quarterback Eli Manning said. “We need to be corrected on some things and do things more efficiently, so we’re getting there, we’re making small steps, but we’re probably not all the way where we need to be.”

Probably not. The only time the Giants offense has looked competent at all was when running a two-minute drill against the Jets, which resulted in Manning’s only touchdown pass of the preseason. While they want to use some no-huddle and keep a fast pace, they know they also need to get better in all aspects of offense.

“I think we had one run in that two-minute drill [against the Jets], so we need to run the ball more than that in a normal circumstance,” Manning said. “Hopefully we can be fast-paced and find ways to get completions and move the ball but still be able to run the ball to keep the defense not knowing what we’re going to do.”

Toward that end, Manning and the starters will get more snaps than usual in the preseason finale against the Patriots, giving them another chance to fix and offense that is sputtering so far.
