Giants pick Josh Brown over Brandon McManus at kicker

With an offense that may make the team’s kicker as underutilized as the Maytag repairman, the Giants nevertheless need to have at least one kicker on the roster.

The Giants have entrusted that duty, for now, to veteran Josh Brown. Per a league source, rookie Brandon McManus will be waived.

Don’t be surprised if McManus also is claimed on waivers. Via the New York Times, McManus has made a 75-yard field goal in practice, and his kickoffs routinely exit the end zone with 10 yards to spare.

“I think McManus has got a real big upside once it all starts clicking for him,” special-team coordinator Tom Quinn told the Times.

After spending 2013 in training camp with the Colts, McManus gained confidence.  While he still hasn’t won a kicking job, there’s a chance it’s only a matter of time.

He left for the Rams years ago over 200k/5 years. If he had just stuck it out, he’d have a SB ring.

Don’t see why, Brown ain’t exactly automatic.

So how long until he replaces Alex Henery? He went to ‘][’emple, so the Eagles could get a local dude and have him face the Giants twice a year in the process.

Makes sense for the Eagles because their current kicker is a mental midget and McManus played for Temple and is from the area.

Same team that picked Odell (bend my hammy like) Beckham over Jace Amaro, nice move G men and specifically Reese who has killed your team again.

Just another example of poor coaching and management by the Giants. Stupid.
