The Chiefs have made the needed moves to get down to 75 players ahead of Tuesday afternoon’s deadline.

Kansas City dropped 11 men from the roster on Monday and got the rest of the way there by dropping three more on Tuesday morning.

Tackle Ryan McKee, cornerback Kevin Rutland and cornerback Damond Smith have been waived and all three have practice squad eligibility should they pass through waivers unclaimed. The Chiefs and the other 31 teams in the league can start filling their 10 practice squad slots one final cuts have been made on Saturday.

In that round of final cuts, the Chiefs will have room for two more players than they originally imagined because of the suspensions handed down to wide receiver Dwayne Bowe and tackle Donald Stephenson.

As a life-long Chiefs fan, I’m starting to come to grips with reality, and reality is that the Chiefs–at least in terms of post-season success–are one of the worst franchises in all of pro sports. The only common denominator over the last 40 years is the Hunt family. Not that I think Clark Hunt WANTS to lose, but maybe he just doesn’t have the mental horsepower necessary to run a winning organization.

Same Alex Smith who pulled out similar stats to Kaep in his first year in the system opposed to Kaeps third? Must mean Kaep is a super bust, 3 years in a system and that kind of production most Smith has had is a year and half. #ctiggsisdelusional

No you are delusional, alex was garbage for years in San Fran. Did you forget or you just dont like to remember. Kap is our future still young still learning and has done more than alex will EVER DO. Quit giving alex the “good guy” pass, he blows. #getreal #nobodyhasitbetter

Smith is 30, Kaep is 27 not too much of a gap in age for “young”. Again Smith has only ever had a year and a half in an offensive system, Kaep numbers for being in a system going on the 4th year and he still looks lost.

Alex Smith was awful for years for the 49ers. The 49ers benched him and made the Super Bowl that same year. Now he had another mediocre year in a mediocre AFC. He is the definition of average. He’s about to be pushed off his second team by a better, younger option, what does that tell you?

It tells me that 9er fans are still delusional. BTW how is that whole Baldwin trade working out for you? SMDH.

You should be embarrassed to call yourself a Niner fan, I bet you bashed
Steve Young as well when Joe was sent backing to KC. How many playoff
games has Kap won? How many where because of him? Smith and Williams
both lost us the playoff game vs the giants we both know that. How about
you just root for the Chiefs.. #Nobodyhasitbetter

Why because Im not delusional? All Im saying is Smith and Kaep have similar stats and it doesn’t seem like he’s growing in the system… Williams did lose that game two fumbles ultimately cost it.

I do root for the Chiefs its my AFC team, but Im a lifelong 49er fan. Im not delusional to buy to the hype machine that is Kaep he’s the same just has more splash plays and is more contravertial, while Smith I think has more to show I think he can thrive if given more than one year in a system. Im not some bandwagon fan stating Kaep is the next Young or Montana, he doesn’t have any touch, all his passes are still bullets, thus the lack of a screen game… This season will show which one of us is wrong.

I’m no bandwagon fan either, been a lifer myself. As I did with Alex, i will stand by our QB until he proves otherwise. I dont know about you but 4-2 in the playoffs and 2 NFC championship games in 1.5 years of starting isnt to shabby. You have to give credit where its due. Yes he doesn’t have the best stats, but he was the most important one, which is wins. #GoNiners!
