Another suspension for a Cowboys defender

The Cowboys’ defense might not deliver many hits this season, but they keep absorbing them.

Via Todd Archer of, the Cowboys have lost safety Jakar Hamilton for the first four games of the season for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.

They were already going to be without cornerback Orlando Scandrick for the first four for violating the league’s PED policy.

Hamilton was on the roster bubble, so it will be interesting to see if they hang onto him, or use him as an example. He played in three games last year after being called up from the practice squad, after arriving as an undrafted rookie.

A hamstring injury was expected to keep him out of tonight’s game anyway.

This will not affect the team enough to go from 4 wins to 3 wins.

This team is just one huge piece of low hanging fruit.

Jerry Jones would sell his soul to be 35 again.

  13. fissels says: Aug 28, 2014 1:52 PM

This is no big deal. I’m not sure this dude was gonna make the team anyway

“I apologize to my fans, friends, family, the entire Dallas Cowboys organization – from Mr. Jones to the waterboys….I apologize to myself for listening to Richard Sherman.”

    – Jakar Hamilton

So if some guy named Hamilton is suspended, who is that in the photo? Looks like #83 to me.

  19. officialgame says: Aug 28, 2014 2:22 PM

Do you think Jones would get down on his knees and beg Jimmy Johnson to come back?

  20. starfan79 says: Aug 28, 2014 2:24 PM

Top 5 Offense, Bottom 3 Defense = 8-8 again. Im glad we have Fantasy Football.. Im a cowboys fan but FF still gives me a reason to be happy on Sunday.. I have also learned to bet against the cowboys so when they loose, I am happy I won money and when they win im happy they won

  21. kernzo says: Aug 28, 2014 2:34 PM

Looks like Ryan Smith from Auburn will now make the roster. Won’t have to worry about other teams grabbing him off of the waiver wire…

  22. bassplucker says: Aug 28, 2014 2:36 PM

At this point, with regard to Dallas’ D, is one more suspension really going to make that much difference. How much worse than awful can you get?

Cowboys D and Bears D in a race to the bottom this season.

  23. zack2482 says: Aug 28, 2014 2:40 PM

This is funny. Dude wasn’t going to make the team anyway. Nothing to see here…..

  24. Commenting off the bench. . . says: Aug 28, 2014 3:02 PM

Teams should be partly responsible for the actions of their players. The number of games Hamilton got suspended for should count against the Cowboy’s 53-man roster until the suspension is over. Teams should have to still pay the salary they would have paid–not directly to the player, but into something the NFL can use for other issues.

This will keep teams from constantly signing players who have known issues, then washing their hands of them as if nothing happened.

  25. dallascowboysdishingthereal says: Aug 28, 2014 3:50 PM

Hamilton was a practice squad guy last season and his chances for making the roster this season were very long. Now, no doubt he will be released.

  26. cowpiesnotcowboys says: Aug 28, 2014 4:33 PM

It’s not like the Cowboys weren’t short on talent in their defensive secondary already, LOL.

  27. Mr. No Days Off says: Aug 28, 2014 6:34 PM

Orlando Scandrick was suspended for testing positive for MDMA or molly, not for violating the league’s PED policy.

I am betting at some point Pot will be allowed.
I don’t use it, but I don’t really see much difference “in moderation” from Alcohol, (Which messes you up MUCH More) and Tobacco.
Being a Child of the 60’s it was much more common place, and it is really no big deal. unless abused.
I don’t buy into the Gateway Drug Propaganda as I do the Movie Reefer Madness Watch THAT for a Chuckle! Talk about Blowing things up as a Scare Tactic. Shot by people that had never experienced it.
BUT it is Illegal now, and I don’t understand why
these guys take the chance of loosing Millions over something that equals about 3 Shots of Jack Daniels….

Garrett IF you MEANT ANY of that RKG crap… CUT THIS DIMWIT! As I doubt there’s a team in the league that would give you a case of Gatorade for him anyway.
