No comment from Cowboys, yet, on Peterson conversation

The Dallas Cowboys have issued no comment in response to the comments from owner Jerry Jones to Vikings running back Adrian Peterson, reportedly in response to Peterson’s stated desire to play for the Cowboys after his time with the Vikings ends.

But while the Cowboys currently are saying nothing, don’t be surprised if Jones addresses the topic at tonight’s preseason game against the Broncos.

Also, don’t be surprised if Jones points out that he didn’t initiate the call, and that he was merely being courteous to Peterson, out of respect for the man and the player.

And don’t be surprised if the NFL, which has issued a “no comment” in response to the revelation, quietly investigates the situation.

Finally, don’t be surprised if the Cowboys face some scrutiny for failing to immediately notify the league office of Peterson’s stated interest in joining the Cowboys, since the tampering policy clearly and expressly contemplates a report to the player’s team if/when a player under contract with that team contacts another team.

I wouldn’t put too much stock into this story. Adrian seems to be the franchise Vikings player. His cap hit will be a lot the next few years but I imagine the Vikings will ask him to restructure. Can’t see the Cowboys and Vikes making a trade here.

How do we know that the Cowboys didn’t notify the league office about the conversation?

Oh, Jerruh, you’ve done it again.

Peterson, ” I will play for Dallas only if I get to play the garbage defense of the turd bay Packers”

Just wait, Jerry Jones, old clown face himself, won’t resist a chance to shoot himself in the foot over this. That’s if he can pull it out of mouth long enough.

    Good, I hate surprises.

It was a whole lot better when ESPN and other outlets reported the news instead of trying to manufacture it.

I think we could make a deal. Working off of the framework of a previous trade between the cowboys and Vikings for a starting RB, I’d say Peterson has a good chance of finishing his career in jerruh world.

Seriously, who would WANT to play for Jerry Jones?

  15. Paul M. says: Aug 28, 2014 5:44 PM

Sounds to me like Peterson was humoring a crazy old man by agreeing with him.

Give Jones some scotch and a microphone. He’ll say the dandiest of things

  17. babygaga19 says: Aug 28, 2014 5:45 PM

Why would anybody want to play for the Cowboys?

  18. mackcarrington says: Aug 28, 2014 5:45 PM

If this is truly documented, then this is indeed tampering. There’s no two ways about it. Fine him some draft picks and salary cap space.

Why would a great talent stuck on a mediocre team want to finish up with Dallas? You would think he’d want a shot at going deep in the playoffs and a possible Super Bowl run???

I think the real story here should be regarding how much he wants/still is angry over not drafting Johnny Manziel….

  25. FinFan68 says: Aug 28, 2014 6:11 PM

Give them some time. Obviously the owner and GM have not had the chance to sit down and discuss what happened and how they should proceed.

  32. fifthmaze says: Aug 28, 2014 6:35 PM

Peterson must have dialed the wrong number. He was just making small talk to be courteous.

After all, nobody in their right mind would want to play for the Dallas Cowboys.

    ====================================

Gerby all of those cheese turds and fatties are rotting your brain…

Moss was traded, and blindsided by the trade. Wilf was PO’d that cheapskate Red traded him. Moss never wanted to leave.

Birk, was outright released…. Cap casualty. Plus, Sullivan is about as good as birk was. Birk was towards the end of his career..

    Lets talk packers..

Favre WANTED to play for the purple.. And had the best year of his career here. Although, uncle teddy was to scared to release Brett cuz he knows Brett would have hopped in his truck and drove 6 hours west to Winter Park, and said where can I sign? So teddy traded him to the jets. Kinda interesting how you treat your own there gerby.

Jennings WANTED to play for the purple..

Longwell had career years in purple…

Seahawk fans are an interesting bunch. They’ve lived in mediocrity for so long they don’t know how to act after one good season. All I can say is if the Chargers ever win a Super Bowl, I hope I don’t act like a fool.

  43. gdeli says: Aug 28, 2014 10:22 PM

Maybe the Cowboys can trade a whole bunch of guys just for Adrian than the Vikings will be even for the Herschel Walker trade. thanks To the late mike Lynn!
