PFT Live: Raiders talk with Vic Tafur, PFT Planet calls and tweets

The preseason schedule came to an end on Thursday night with few starting players taking part in the action.

The Raiders used the occasion to give rookie quarterback Derek Carr the start and extended playing time and Vic Tafur of the San Francisco Chronicle will join Mike Florio on Friday’s edition of PFT Live to discuss Carr’s performance. Carr handled things well, but entered the game behind Matt Schaub on the depth chart so we’ll also get an update on the state of Schaub’s sore elbow while looking ahead to the Raiders season.

We’ll close out the week by taking another set of questions from PFT Planet. Whether you’re thinking about who will make 53-man rosters or looking for predictions about the coming season, let us know on Twitter — @ProFootballTalk — or give a call to 888-237-5269 during the show.

It all gets started at noon ET and you can watch it all live by clicking right here.

If the Raiders lose to the Jets and Derek Carr is the starting QB against the Texans in week 2 Dennis Allen and Reggie McKenzie will appear to have wasted $8 million on Matt Schaub. Much rather have a week 1 win but if Schaub continues his ways the Jets will win that game.

Raiders need wins. Start Carr and be done with it .

Can they go off an underdog x 16 in 2014?

Still the most rings in the division even for sucking the last 11 years. And the stinkpot Chargers still have zero, what a terrible franchise.

I have been a Matt McGloin supporter since last year and really wanted him to start. Well, Derek Carr just told me to shut the hell up. He played great last night. He provided the spark we needed. I hope both Big Reg and DA had a sleepless night last night because of all #StartCarr #startthecarr gave them to think about.

Raiders have been and will always be the most mismanaged, dysfunctional organization in sports!

Markey Mark, sell the team to Madden. He will put the rubber back on the asphalt!

Raider fans brace yourself for the worst year ever but thankfully Mckenzie will be gone and not be able to blame anybody else for some of the worst football talent and coaching put out on the field the last few years.

Gm’s are supposed to bring in as much talent as possible, coach is supposed to start who’s playing the best, don’t look at the salary just the talent and Carr should be starting…this is on DA

Poor babygaga, the NFL wasn’t founded in 2003.
