Bengal cut former second-rounder Devon Still

In 2012, the Bengals used a second-round pick on defensive lineman Devon Still.  In 2014, they release him.

Per a league source, Still will be among the cuts down to 53 players.

Still appeared in 10 games last season and eight as a rookie.  He told PFT Live a month before the 2012 draft that Still, who played at Penn State, is a Steelers fan.  The Steelers, along with every other team, will now have a chance to claim him on waivers.

Still’s situation underscores the inherent crapshoot that is the draft.  In the same year they ultimately wasted a second-round pick on Still, the Bengals signed an undrafted linebacker named Vontaze Burfict.

Must mean they’re feeling good about Geno’s recovery.

No offense, but that has nothing to do with it. He just didn’t earn a job.

The guy showed a few flashes in his rookie year and hasn’t done much since. I hope he and his daughter can both turn their respective situations around. A darn shame about his kid.

Heart goes out to Devon. His heart wasn’t in it, so he needs to be with his young daughter. Hopefully his daughter beats cancer and he makes it back to the league.

Aside from Burfict, Bengals got five current starters (including Marvin Jones), as well as two others who will see a lot of time on the field this year, in that draft. Pretty solid, all in all.

See, this is why I can’t fault guys for holding out for more money.

One day youre on the team, the next youre off. Nothing more than pieces of meat exchanged for new pieces of meat.

Steelers don’t need him. They need CBs
