Buccaneers run Jeff Demps off the 53-man roster

The Buccaneers might want to use a committee of running backs, but that committee won’t include Jeff Demps.

According to Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times, the Bucs have decided to release the world class sprinter and Florida running back.

Demps had vowed this spring to focus only on football, but his track career might come calling again.

With the diminishing importance of kickoff returns, such singular talents such as Demps are having a harder time finding a role in the NFL, if they can’t do something else. And he was never able to show that.

One thing that can’t be taught on the football field is unadulterated speed!! Lovie and his decision making baffles me at times…WR or RD screens, lined up against LB’s or safeties without the foot speed would’ve caused serious mismatches but I guess Bobby Rainey has gotten faster…smh…The injury to Charles Sims, there is no speed at the RB position…

It wasn’t his running that did him in, it was his hands. You can’t drop passes in the end zone.

Lovie’s gotten rid of nearly anyone whom Greg Schiano or Mark Domenik has acquired.

It’s Lovie’s show in Tampa now.

Don’t let the “committee” term fool you… Martin getting the ball. Often.

He has All-World track speed, but looked like he ran a 4.6 on the football field…like EVERY other olympic sprinter before him (sans Tim Dwight), Denps isn’t a good enough football player to make it
