Colts get down to 53 after trade with Seahawks

A rare cut-day trade has helped the Colts get down to the NFL roster limit of 53 players.

Indianapolis sent cornerback Marcus Burley to Seattle in exchange for a sixth-round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. The 24-year-old Burley has never played in a regular-season game, and it’s a little surprising that the Seahawks were willing to give up a draft pick to acquire him — especially considering that Seattle isn’t exactly needy at cornerback. But the Seahawks evidently liked what they’ve seen of Burley and thought he was worth a late-rounder.

Indianapolis waived the following 17 players: DE-Gannon Conway, RB-David Fluellen, QB-Chandler Harnish, DE-Tyler Hoover, OLB-Phillip Hunt, ILB-Andrew Jackson, WR-Ryan Lankford, WR-Josh Lenz, C-FN Lutz, S-Dewey McDonald, DT-Nnamdi Obukwelu, CB-Sheldon Price, ILB-Rob Ruggiero, TE-Weslye Saunders, ILB-Kelvin Sheppard, TE-Erik Swoope and G-Josh Walker.

The Colts also released NT-Brandon McKinney, waived-injured T-Matt Hall and S-Delano Howell and placed OLB-Robert Mathis on the reserve/suspended by commissioner list. That gets them down to 53.

Seahawks offense is so explosive, the only person fantasy worthy is Beast mode

Aw man… I was SO excited when I heard that the Colts had made a trade with the Seahawks…

I thought they’d finally traded Trent Richardson… and that Wilson kid would have made a great backup QB for Luck…

Anyone who says Seattle doesn’t need CBs didn’t see Philip Adams play on Thursday.

The Seahawks were smart to grab another CB since Richard Sherman was last seen eating Campbells Chunky Soup.

Seattle reportedly asked for Jim Irsay, first. He’d fit right into their secondary — fill the void left by Browner.

The reason you are surprised MJD, is because you didn’t do any homework. The reason they traded for a cornerback is because DeShawn Shead had been playing that position, who the Seahawks prefer as a safety. He can play any position, but Chancellor and Earl Thomas led the team in tackles on special teams last year.

Also, ET is returning punts this year with the departure of Golden Tate. Shead and Jeron Johnson are very important backups on a team that plays a lot of nickel defense.

I hope for the Hawks sake that Burley is Adams replacement and Adams doesn’t make the 53 man roster, for Adams obviously was completely lost against the Raiders. No way I’d pay him to play…how he’s in the league 5 years is a mystery to me.

If the Seahawks are interested in a DB, I’d think twice or three times about trading him.
