Titans cut Maikon Bonani, Tommie Campbell

Maikon Bonani

The Titans may have settled on Rob Bironas’s replacement at kicker.

Travis Coons has outlasted Maikon Bonani in this summer’s competition. Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean reports that Bonani has been cut after entering camp as the favorite. Bonani was 3-of-4 on both field goals and extra points. Coons, an undrafted free agent, made 2-of-3 field goals and could still conceivably be replaced when the Titans see who is available after all the cuts have been made.

Cornerback Tommie Campbell, a 2011 seventh-round pick who was flagged for seven penalties during the exhibition season, has also been released. Campbell went on Twitter to thank Titans fans for their support.

Wyatt also reports that linebacker Moise Fokous, tight end Chase Coffman, cornerback Ri’Shard Anderson, offensive lineman Eric Olsen, quarterback Dominique Davis and tight end Jason Schepler have been released.

Coon doesn’t get his kickoffs very deep which will be his undoing. A veteran kicker is sorely needed
